John M. Fales, III

10 septembre 1959 - 10 janvier 2020
John “Jay” Fales, died suddenly on January 10, 2020, at his home in Orlando, Florida. He was 60 years old.
Born on September 10, 1959 in New Britain, Connecticut, John Mann Fales III was adopted and raised in Somers, Connecticut by John Mann Fales Jr. and Julia (Anthony) Fales. John attended Somers High School, graduating class of 1978. He continued his studies at Asnuntuck Community College, attaining an Associate in Arts degree, graduating class of 1980.
For 30 years, John primarily worked as a CAD designer in contract engineering positions for companies such as ABB, Millstone Nuclear, Hamilton Standard, Chandler-Evans, and Motorola. John went on to specialize in the medical industry, working for companies such as Baxter International, HeartWare, Nipro Medical, and Cordis, a division of Johnson & Johnson. He contributed to design improvements in the manufacturing and production of medical devices, including tool design, validation of process, and documentation of changes in the research and development phases of new devices.
John had an entrepreneurial spirit, bringing to life various business ideas over the years. His most notable company was Environmental Enhancements, started with long-time friend, Lynn DeCarlo, conducting surveys of electromagnetic fields for residential and commercial clients. He thrived on solving problems; sharing his experiences and knowledge with others; and preferred working on projects that included data analysis by charting, graphing, and comparing statistical information.
Recreational activities almost always meant boating down the Connecticut River or the Intercoastal Waterway in Ft. Lauderdale. John loved to be out in the sun and on the water with friends and family. Throughout his life, John was also an audio equipment enthusiast, meticulously connecting his vintage speakers to home entertainment systems. He enjoyed watching sci-fi television shows; going to Renaissance Fairs with his friend, Vaughn Usher; and found it most comforting to have a cat on his lap while listening to blues and jazz music.
John is loved and missed by his surviving daughter, Lea Patrice Fales of Greenwood, Michigan; former wife, Christine Fales of Orlando, Florida; sister Jennifer Fales of Somers, Connecticut; brother David Fales of New York, New York; six nieces and nephews; and so many beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
At John’s request, there will be “no funeral or hoopla.” In lieu of a service, we’d like to invite you to share a memory, story, photo or video in the guest book.
