28 de enero de 1931 - 23 de diciembre de 2024
Sadly missed along life's way, quietly remembered every day... No longer in our life to share, but in our hearts, you're always there
John Actis, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 23, 2024, one-month shy of the age of 94.
Born on January 28, 1931, in Los Angeles, John was a first-generation Italian-American whose parents had immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in the early 20th century.
John’s early years were spent in the vibrant Little Italy section of Los Angeles, where he experienced the rich Italian-American culture that thrived in the area. His family later moved to a ranch in the San Fernando Valley, where they raised chickens and rabbits, selling fresh meat and eggs throughout Los Angeles. In his youth, John joined the Army, where he contributed to the construction of airfields. John didn't just operate these machines; he had a genuine love for their engineering, the skill required to control them, and the sense of accomplishment that came with building infrastructure.
After his military service, John embarked on a 35-year career with the postal service. Starting as a mail carrier, he worked his way up to becoming in charge of the annex in Granada Hills and Mission Hills, retiring at the age of 55.
John's personal life was marked by a 67-year marriage to his beloved wife, whom he met through a close friend. When he met her, he knew she was the one when she had to safely drive him home in his prized possession-- his ‘54 Mercury. Together, they shared a passion for the outdoors, embarking on extensive camping trips across the United States and Canada with their family.
John had a big heart and was always there to help family, friends, and anyone in need. John's greatest joy in life was his role as a father to his three daughters, grandfather to six grandchildren, and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, hard work, and appreciation for family and nature will live on through them.
The family will be holding gravesite funeral services 11:00am on January 23rd at Oakwood memorial park and cemetery in Chatsworth, ca.

Dad was a wonderful and smooth dancer. One of the things he loved was dancing with mom and spinning her around when they were jitterbug dancing
