We first met Joanne and her husband Jim in 1977 when we bought the house next-door to them on Weldon! At that time Jimmie was a very small child, and we enjoyed hearing his and Joanne‘s laughter through the oleanders as they would play in the yard. Over the years we got to know them a lot better, they truly delighted in their Halloween decorations and scaring the kids in the neighbourhood, it was a lot of fun. Joanne always had a smile for everyone whether she knew them or not. She was extremely intelligent, I loved listening to her talk about various aspects of her life and about science and especially about rocks! Joanne was curious by nature, and was always welcoming of new ideas and new people. She was a bright light in this lifetime and I know she will be missed by not only her family also by her many friends.

One of my favorite memories of Joanne was when Jimmy was born. She and Jim came to our home in Salt Lake City to show off there little bundle. She was so excited to share him with us and I thoroughly enjoyed holding their precious boy. When I graduated High School, Joanne gave me a thesaurus which I have to this day. It always made me think of her and her thoughtfulness. Joanne stayed in contact with my mother over the years. Sometimes traveling to Utah to stay with her. I enjoyed the times when I was able to connect with her as well. She was always so interesting to speak with. I will miss my sweet aunt. - Kristy Hesterman Moffat
