Recuerdos

Seres queridos

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new. I thought of you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence as I often speak your name. All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part. God has you in His keeping. I have you in my heart.

Joanne Goodson, a long-time resident of Sandy Springs, GA, passed away on September 17, 2021. Joanne is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Rob Goodson; son, Ryan Foster; stepdaughters, Carmon White and Lynn Goodson; brothers Joe Ward and Jimmy Ward; stepmother Lynn Marie Ward; along with extended family and many friends.

Joanne was born October 13, 1963, to Clinton Edward Ward and Karen Marie Weed in Hillsborough County, FL. She spent her early life in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami with her mother, father, and brothers, Ronnie, Jimmy, and Joe. Her son Ryan was born in 1988, she met Rob Goodson in 1990 and they were married in Roswell, Georgia in 1996.

Joanne lived a fulfilling life as a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was generous, empathetic, and had a heart of gold. Those qualities, along with her determination and work ethic, contributed to her being a bright spot in the lives of her coworkers and customers; most of whom became her friends. She loved her life, family, work, and friends.

Joanne's wishes were to be cremated, and the family will have a memorial to celebrate her life.

Today was the first day that I woke up with memories of actually hearing you giggle. Feels so good to smile and remember the times we laughed until we cried. Your heart was so full of love for anyone you came in contact with. I miss you and feel so blessed to smile because of you this morning.

When I say Joanne had a heart of gold I meant that. My very first paying job in Miami at a bagel shop she helped me get it. Then she introduced me to her brother Ronny. Before long I came to know the whole family, much fun they all were. Later as we all graduated high school and such we began to live separate lives but still kept in touch. She ended up moving up state Florida and me I joined the army. Thank you FB we reconnected and it was awesome. She lived not far from my sister in Georgia so I was able to visit and of course meat Rob and her son. We talked about everything from a-z she never judged me nor I her nothing but love and good times. She really meant a lot to me I thought the world of her. I loved her family and I loved Joanne so much fun to be around. Rest In Peace my friend.

Joanne, I miss you more than you can ever imagine. What I would not give to hear you laugh at something crazy I did or something we did together. There is a place in my heart that will always be for you. Never have I ever met a woman that cared for people deeply but could also flip and curse a grown person out for doing the wrong thing. The friendship we grew working together is one to be cherished. I love and miss you friend.

My dear friend, where do I begin? You have been my best friend since 5th grade. The fact that we have remained best friends for almost 50 years is amazing! Moving forward to 1995, you and Robby came up to Virginia for my wedding to my beloved John. You were one of my bridesmaids and made it even though we were in a snow blizzard. Time moved on and in 2014, my John passed away. You as always my loyal friend, called me every night for the last 6 years. I'm not sure many people can testify to that kind of friendship! I love you and will miss you forever. I am sure I will see you again. Abigail and I love you my dear, dear friend. Rest in peace.

We are sending strength and love to the entire family at this difficult time. I know Joanne from Cafe 290 in Sandy Springs where she and her family were family to us. Joanne was always kind and generous to us as struggling bartenders and we became friends quickly. I have such fond memories of her playing pool for hours and just talking about her kids and what each of them were up too in life at that time. I was trying to remember the last time I saw her and it was unfortunately a few years ago and it had been quite awhile since I had seen her. It was a busy night at work and in true Joanne fashion once you got her talking, she wasn’t gonna stop till she was done :). I remember laughing while she literally followed me around the bar like she owed the place telling me everything the family had been up too. She was fiercely loyal, so happy to talk about her family and it was a joy to be able to call her a friend. Sending you all strength and love.
