Recuerdos

Jim was raised and went to school in Amelia, Ohio. As a boy, Jim kept in close contact with two friends who lived on a nearby farm. He loved animals and spent many summers working on farms. In high school, Jim took shop courses.  Entering the Army, in the Spring of 1966, he spent boot camp, in Ft. Knox, Louisville, KY. After Ft Knox, Jim was relocated to Panama, Central America. Afterwards, he was transferred to Fort Sills in Oklahoma. There, Jim met the love of his life Jackie Shaw. The year following his discharge from the service he and Jackie married. Jim and Jackie took up permanent residence in Chickasha, and there they raised their three sons. He enjoyed the company of animals and had on his small farm flocks of birds and his favorite barn mammals. About 15 years ago, Jim acquired a serious injury to his arm working as a mechanic in a garage in Chickasha. In addition, he also suffered with diabetes and arthritis, and when recovery was slow, he took disability in 2007. December 31, 2014, Jackie retired from research at the bank in Oklahoma City. It was sometime after Jackie retired that Jim wounded his foot and leg working on his tractor. His mobility became impaired and he was confined to a chair which impacted mental well being.                                                                                                                                                      At the age of 72, Jim entered a life of eternal peace and comfort, passing away sometime during the evening of May 24, 2020. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Jackie and his children, Randall (Deborah), Brien, and Curtis. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his four siblings, Nancy, Paul, Claudette (Vince), and Tim (Sandy) and by his nephews & nieces Michele, Michael, Laura, Tina, James, Julie, Tim Jr. and Belinda.

I only got to meet my Uncle Jim a handful of times. My favorite memory of him was waking up one Saturday morning to his "big truck" in our driveway. We took photo on the Polaroid camera and thought it was the coolest thing ever that our Uncle was a truck driver. <3 After the loss of my Grandpa, I realized just how much Uncle Jim's mannerisms and soft heart mimicked my Grandpa's when he would visit Ohio. Even though our times shared were short, I will miss him. Sending prayers of love and comfort to all --especially Aunt Jackie and my cousins Curtis, Randall and Brien. We love you.
