“Is that your star? Can I hitch a ride?” from “Stars” by Jason Pietrantoni

Jason Michael Pietrantoni of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on March 2, 2025 at the age of 39. Jason was the beloved son of Joseph Marcus Pietrantoni, Jr. and Susonne Marie Delagarza Pietrantoni. As a son and brother, an uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, Jason will live in our hearts forever.

Jason was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 8, 1985. After graduating from Lisle Senior High School in 2003, Jason attended the University of Las Vegas, Nevada, where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Administration and Management in 2010. While at UNLV, Jason was an active member of Sigma Chi.

After graduating from UNLV, Jason spent the next 20 years in restaurant management. Most recently the general manager at Mijo, Jason also held management positions at Catch Vegas, ARIA, Zuma, and Sushi Samba. In every place he worked, Jason brought consummate professionalism and dedication to his team and the people they served. Whether greeting guests, taking reservations, or charming customers,  Jason’s laughter, patience, and wit made everyone around him feel welcome and at home.

While restaurants were his livelihood, Jason’s true passion was music. An avid fan of bands like NIN and Tool, Jason’s own music was introspective and touching. Dealing with joy, love, and heartbreak, Jason’s songs are filled with wonder and beauty. Jason’s creativity infused every part of his life. From karaoke sessions with friends and open-mic around Las Vegas, sharkskin suits and his (brief) experiment with a mohawk – Jason moved through the world with authenticity, style, and rare bravery.

Jason is survived by his mother Susonne Pietrantoni, his father Joseph Pietrantoni, brother Joel Pietrantoni and girlfriend Maria Tellez, sister Nicole Pietrantoni and husband Devon Wootten, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sand Dollar Lounge (Jason's favorite) at 3355 Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, March 9 starting at 7pm.

Services will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home at 5015 Lincoln Avenue in Lisle, Illinois, on Friday, March 21st from 2-7pm.

The family invites everyone to bring photos of Jason and/or written notes of favorite memories and good laughs with Jason.

Jason my boy you are missed dearly. Boy oh Boy.. when I was a youngster my family moved quite a bit. By the time I was in the fourth grade we ended up in Lisle, where I would meet Jason P, my very best friend and partner in crime for the remainder of my childhood years. Jason upheld many great qualities, but if you ask anyone who knew him, the first that comes to mind is his sense of humor and ability to always be authentic and honest- no matter who he was talking to. He always gave you his honest opinion, was always able to hear you out in times of need and was hands down the funniest dude I personally have ever known. He was one of a kind and his character displayed that well. All of the memories seem so long ago and at the same time they feel like we were just there. I will always remember Jason as one of a kind, you can't replicate a man like him. The best friend you could ever ask for. I Love you doggie, and I miss you terribly.

Jason and I used to joke that the only (non-sibling) fistfight either of us ever got into was with each other—which is pretty ridiculous if you knew us. Ironically, though, it turned out to be one of the best things that happened, because shortly after, we became close friends. Many weekends often started outside a 7-11, convincing day laborers to buy us beer—Killian's Irish Red when we felt fancy. Afterwards, we'd sit in my car for hours, just talking and listening to music. Sure, two underage kids sitting in a parked car with open containers probably wasn’t the smartest choice, but those nights are still some of my favorite high school memories. Music was a big part of our connection—we'd spend hours at my house sharing guitar chord progressions or practicing finger-picking styles together. Our friendship wasn't based on growing up together or convenience; it came from shared interests and genuinely enjoying each other's company. Jason was one of the first friends I made purely through common interests and authentic friendship. Eventually, life took Jason to Las Vegas and me to Southern California. Thankfully, my work often brought me to Vegas, allowing us regular opportunities to hang out. Whether it was meeting up at the restaurant he managed or grabbing dinner and drinks, those moments always meant a lot. Between visits, our friendship easily picked up right where we left off through Facebook or texts—no awkwardness, no forced small talk. We just continued our conversations naturally, which to me is the mark of true friendship. Jason wasn't just a good friend; he was genuinely one of the best people I've ever known. He was kind, funny, artistic, and deeply empathetic. On the outside, he was easy-going and cool, but beneath that was someone incredibly sensitive and thoughtful. From the moment we met at thirteen, I never felt I had to act differently around him. Jason welcomed authenticity, allowing us both to be completely ourselves. There was never any pretense—just genuine friendship. He truly was special. When I heard the news of his passing, I was completely devastated, like everyone else. Needing some sense of closure, I sent one final message, knowing he'd never read it. Losing someone so suddenly leaves too many things unsaid. It breaks my heart that Jason never met my children, and I deeply feel for his family—such loving and strong people—and all the friends who loved him as much as I did. It's a reminder that growing older isn't promised to anyone, though Jason certainly deserved all the happiness life could offer. I’ll never forget Jason. I look forward to the day when thinking of him brings more smiles than tears, grateful for having known someone who made such a profound impact on my life.
