UPDATE (21/03/2020): In light of the escalating health crisis, travel restrictions and government guidelines, the family has had to accept that we are currently unable to give Jan the send-off that she deserves. We have no choice but to postpone the service and reception indefinitely, until the pandemic is over. However, Mum wished to be buried and we are required to go-ahead with this now. We are forced to limit in-person attendence to immediate family who are not in quarantine. We have chosen a beautiful woodland spot at Brookwood cemetery near Woking Surrey and will be streaming the burial online so that anyone who wishes to attend remotely will be able to do so. A recording will also be made available for download after the event. More details, including date and time, will be shared shortly. Please note that the burial will be a simple and dignified occasion. The full celebration of Jan's life will come later. Thank you for your understanding, love and support.

UPDATE (15/03/2020): We are still unable to finalise a date for the funeral and so the week of March 23rd is now looking less likely. We are also monitoring the coronavirus situation closely and will provide further updates as soon as we can.

UPDATE (25/02/2020): Jan is flying from Dubai to London Heathrow on Emirates flight EK7 on February 27th. The funeral date cannot be finalised yet due to legal procedure but is provisionally being planned for the week of March 23rd.

Janet Rosalind Walsh, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully on February 16th 2020, in Dubai UAE, at the age of 72.

Jan will be buried near her beloved home in West Byfleet, Surrey UK. Arrangements are currently underway and details of her funeral, burial and reception will be posted here as they are finalised. Once posted, please RSVP (on the 'Events' link above) to help the family with numbers.

Jan had a great love of animals; dogs and donkeys, in particular. Instead of sending flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to 'The Donkey Sanctuary' who help donkeys all around the world. Those attending her funeral will have an opportunity to make a donation on the day. Alternatively, you can make a donation online by selecting the 'In Memoriam Donation' link below.

I hadn’t seen you in over 25 years Jan but I have always held the fondest memories of you in my heart. My perfect first Walsh family Christmas set the tone for my own family Christmases years later. I remember being doubled over with laughter with you playing charades. You and Bernard always left your door unlocked and hearts open to me as a teenager. I remember sitting around your kitchen table chatting, cooking super garlicky scalloped potatoes with extra thick double cream with you, Bernard’s Friday night spaghetti bolognese ( with red pepper in it that made it exotic compared with my mum’s). I remember walking into your house after school to find you snuggled up in bed with Oliver the guinea pig! You used to have long conversations with him which he squeaked replies to! I remember Desmond and Daphne, the ducks, visiting your garden. You were such a warm and loving lady who listened to me in my teenage years. You loved your family dearly and your love shone through them. I always kept this photo, amongst others, as a memory of happy times. I was so sorry to hear you had been ill but find comfort to know you are at peace. I send my love to the family. Sigi x

On February 16th 2020 my beautiful mother passed peacefully in Dubai. She has been released from a horrible, degenerative, terminal condition which she has been fighting bravely for many years. Effortlessly stylish, my Mum was a classic English rose who loved the country she grew up in. A woman of faith and a huge heart. Her great passion for her family only just eclipsing her love of animals. Dogs and (oh so wonderfully quirky) donkeys, in particular. She refused to eat duck ever again after a mating pair laid eggs in her garden pond. I have inherited my Mum's delightfully suspect choice of TV viewing including Carry On movies, Jeremy Kyle and Eastenders. Do not be fooled though, this belies a fierce intellect capable of completing the most fiendish cryptic crosswords, toughest sudoku puzzles and able to compose entire songs fully formed in her dreams. No words can ever thank my Mum for the most perfect childhood, the magical Christmases and the unconditional love and support. I have lost my loudest cheerleader in life and nothing will fill the hole in my heart. I love you Mum. RIP xxx
