Janet Fabrycky
26 de febrero de 1951 - 5 de mayo de 2020
26 de febrero de 1951 - 5 de mayo de 2020
Janet Corbly Fabrycky, 69, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. She was born just after her identical twin sister and only sibling, Virginia Miller, in Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 26, 1951, to the late Clark and Mary Virginia Corbly.
Janet was a graduate of Wheaton College (IL) and obtained master’s degrees in Special Education and in Reading. She married Alan Fabrycky on June 30, 1973, and they raised two sons, David and Daniel. She was a loving mother-in-law to David’s spouse, Laura, and doting grandmother to their children, Miriam, Hannah, and Adam, as she was to Daniel’s spouse, Emily, and their children, John, Anna, Mary, Matthew, and Elizabeth. She was loved by both her own extended family and the Fabrycky family she married into.
Janet was a humble, loving servant with a childlike faith in God, inspiring many to faithfully follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Her ability to relate to children and communicate with them made her an effective teacher of reading skills, spiritual truths, and good behavior. She was a teacher in Ohio, Illinois, and from 2001-2016 in Virginia at Prices Fork Elementary and Kipps Elementary. She also led Sunday School programs at Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church (IL) and Blacksburg Christian Fellowship.
Since 2016, Janet and Alan resided at the Villas at Peppers Ferry, where she fostered and served the community. Throughout her life, she was a friend to many, a trusted confidante, and a caring counselor. She loved reading and was devoted to prayer. She tended her family’s heritage and heirlooms, and she marked the seasons with beautiful decorations.
The funeral will be live-cast at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 10, and its recording hosted at http://bcf-church.org/funeral-janet/ .
Janet requested that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Mission Fund at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, PO Box 813, Blacksburg, VA 24063.

I didn't know her well, but always loved her upbeat spirit and shining smile. A very sweet person to speak with. I am so sorry to hear she has left us. Prayers to you all. May you be blessed forever with memories of her love.

As my mom's next-door neighbor in the Villas, Janet was a great blessing to Mom and our family, especially considering Mom's solitude and dementia. After my dad passed away in May 2019, Janet regularly visited Mom and took her to the community Coffee, always sharing God's love, joy, patience, and encouragement with her. Mom moved to Warm Hearth this January but continues to talk about Janet, referring to her as "my best friend." We give thanks to the Lord for the great blessing Janet was to Mom, to us and a multitude of others.

Dear Alan and family, my sincere condolence. Janet was always smiling and my kids like to be around her in Sunday school.

There are very few people that I remember from our class at Anderson High School, but Janet and Ginny were two of the most wonderful people I have remembered after all of these 50 years. They were both so kind and wonderful God loving people. My granddaughter is a sophomore at Wheaton, and I told her that I had two friends from school who had gone there. Interestingly, I have no idea why I remembered that except that I remembered each of them as being amazing people. I'm sure she will be missed so much by so many people.

I met Janet years ago when I became involved with the New River Valley Reading Council. We also worked together at Kipps for a few years. While she was involved in so many parts of running the school, I will always remember her dedication to the "Read Dogs" program. Her tireless coordination with this program led to happy kids, happy dogs, happy adults, and happy teachers. We also presented a workshop on this program at one of the NRVRC conferences together. She was a joy to work with and to be around.
