James had a personality and presence that is so rare. He was filled with joy and fun. I had the pleasure of growing up along side his daughter Sierra and most of my happiest childhood memories are with Sierra and James. My last memory of James is when he came to my graduation party and he found out I made the queso all by myself and he was so proud of me he kept telling everyone to say “this is the best queso of all time”. It was little things like that that James would do to put a smile on the face of everyone around him. When we were young kids and we were on ski trips with James and my parents there was never a dull moment. James was always tasked with sitting in the back of the car with us kids to keep us entertained. He was SO good at it I never even noticed the 4 hours we had just spent driving through winding mountain roads. James brought a whimsy to my childhood I can’t compare to anyone else. His love and joy lives on through my best friend and his beautiful daughter Sierra, and I will forever search out the joy that James found in everyday life. Love, Brigit Bergmiller

¿Cómo conociste a James?
You were my sister's husband and my good friend until every one kind of drifted apart as adults in their own direction . When we met in Ybor City you told me you thought I was a super model always so sweet but you had all eyes on Dawn who was always a supermodel ! We all had the best adventure when I met You Dawn with my parents in LA ( of course we were all born in California ) so we had that connection and explored it. We met in the valley and then drove down to San Diego walked in to Tijuana you loved joked with me Dawn saying we were going back at night Yikes but you were our protector the whole time ! In addition we ate at Rubio's the first time amazing fish tacos and then we went to an awesome coffee shop Carlsbad where you played the guitar and others read poetry . I t is one of the most memorable times of my life I had been touch with you before you passed and wished we would have seen you again Much Love James you were and always will be a part of my life

James my best friend and the best Dad ever to Sierra our daughter. James taught me so much about life. I fell in love with James's creativity, and his spirit. He could pick up the guitar and make up a song that would open your heart. He would blow your mind with his intelligence and energy. He was fearless and kind. We could talk about anything ...so now what. I will cherish every minute I had with this special person . I see a lot James in our daughter and she was the most important thing to him. When I look at all these pictures of James, and talk to others about him- it reminds me to remember what life is all about -James just loved life -he loved people, family, adventures, fishing, nature, connections to the world. Explore, Learn, Love, Peace, Happiness. I will miss my best friend . Much Love.

i’m so sorry you’re gone, my friend. And as I rethink about your life, I rest easy knowing you squeezed every ounce out of it. I will forever remember the snook you caught after swimming around the channel marker to keep from being broken off. You were a great man and will be missed.

James was a great guy! He was fun and ridiculous like the rest of us! I'm grateful I knew and worked with him!
