James Farrell Kehoe, Esq.

5 août 1944 - 24 août 2022
James Farrell Kehoe, Esq. (78), of McAdenville, NC, died peacefully at his home on August 24, 2022.
Born in Hartford, CT he was the oldest of seven children born to Catherine (Ryan) and Richard O’Connor Kehoe, Esq. Raised in Utica, NY, he attended Notre Dame High School where he became a member of the ROTC which led to his service in the U.S. Army. He went on to receive an undergraduate degree from Washington & Jefferson College and his law degree from Syracuse University. Upon graduation, he returned to Utica, NY, joining his father in his law practice. He remained in Utica throughout his professional career, and at the time of his retirement worked with the Oneida County Public Defender’s Department.
He married Addie (Turner) in 1972. Together they welcomed three children and soon became fixtures on the sports fields, courts, and slopes that occupied the children’s active youth. Jim faithfully attended sporting events and, with his ever-present cup of black coffee in hand, could be counted on to deliver a perfectly timed quip of questionable relevance suitable to the event’s outcome.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, he would not dream of completing his daily NY Times crossword in anything but pen. He was fully engaged in the world and dazzled by the people he encountered. As a gifted conversationalist, he could make one feel they were the only one in it.
He was predeceased by his parents Richard O’Connor Kehoe, Esq. and Catherine Ryan Kehoe and two brothers Richard O’Connor Kehoe, Jr. and Brien Edward Kehoe, Esq. He is survived by his wife Addie (McAdenville, NC), daughter Rebecca Ryan and son-in-law Keith Brown (McAdenville, NC), son Benjamin Farrell Kehoe and his wife Karen (Flynn) (Crozet, VA), son Andrew Abbott Kehoe (Lakewood, CO), grandchildren Henry James, Flynn Benjamin, John Turner (Crozet, VA), Frederik Tate and Delilah Jillian, Ronan Blu (Lakewood, CO), Vance Farrell, Harrison Abbott (McAdenville, NC), Sister Marianne Catherine Kehoe (Shepherdstown, WV), John Patrick Kehoe and his wife Allison (Baird) (Shepherdstown, WV), brother Paul Timothy Kehoe (Fly Creek, NY), brother William Kelly Kehoe (Columbia, MD) and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
His family wishes to express gratitude to Gaston Hospice.
A private memorial will be held at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org/donation.
