Jackie Wayne Strey

Jackie Wayne Strey passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2025.  He was born on February 3, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas to Sherlene (Carusella) and Eli Strey.  Jackie attended Highlands High School graduating in 1972.  He married his first wife Deborah (May) in 1975.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Deborah (May) Strey, His sister Janice (Strey) Tullis, his parents and his beloved furbabies – Cocoa and Romeo. 

 

He is survived by his current wife Diana (May) Flippo-Strey, His daughters Stephanie Stai and her husband Travis, Jacquelyn Sparks and her husband Joshua, step-children Rachael (Flippo) Howell and her husband Janson, Robert Flippo and his wife Allison (Wilson).  He had 7 grandchildren Moira (Stai) Garza and her husband Samuel, Mikayla Stai, Marissa Stai, Scott Otwell, Courtney Otwell, Hunter Sparks and Avery Flippo.  His brother-in-laws Jimmy Tullis, Chet May and sister-in-law Denise (May) Goode and his nieces Jennifer (Tullis) Becka, Julie (Tullis) Rodriguez, Jessica (Tullis) Rackler, Alex (Whitley) Wempe and nephews James Tullis, Preston Whitley. Chase May, and Peyton May.  And many other great nieces an nephews.

 

Jackie loved his family, watching cooking shows and sports especially the Cowboys & the Spurs.  He also loved to drink beer and fish.  Stevie Ray Vaughn was his favorite musician.  He enjoyed the past 15 years living on his land he called “The Ponderosa”. 

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 11th, 2025 at the New Berlin Community Center in New Berlin, Texas from 12pm to 4pm.  Please wear your favorite sports or music shirts to celebrate Jackie.
