Hubert Remi Ngueha died on April 27 after battling the Covid 19 virus. He had been on life support for two weeks at Adventist White Oak Medical Center in Maryland. Born on 7 November 1965 in Victoria, Cameroon of the Bamileke people, Hubert was active in CVX in his home country and continued his CLC vocation when he emigrated to the USA, initially in Texas before moving to the Washington, D.C. area. He was close friends with Fred Leone, and through the years was a member of the Whisper of God CLC (Silver Spring, MD), St. Aloysius CLC and Living Water CLC. Hubert was active in the African French speaking community of St. Camillus Catholic Church. For many years he was the journals coordinator for the Catholic University of America Press. Most recently, he worked for the University in international development and had been pursuing a PhD in business. Hubert leaves behind three children: a daughter from his first marriage NGUEHA Christiane Audrey and two sons NGUEHA William Bertrand (adopted) and NGUEHA Patrick Remi, and their mother, Florence. Hubert is mourned also by surviving family members: Mother -Mrs. Simo Ngaba Marie Delphine; Brothers- Simo Frederick, Simo Flaubert, Fogue Hugues, and Simo Joel; Sisters- Njiki Martine, Simo Damaris, Kameni Loïs, and Shaga Myriane; Cousins- Nana Patricia, Nana Margaret, Nana Noumen Margaret, Nana Lawrence, and Nana Michael. The pain is great. My darling, you are leaving a very big void for both your little family and your big family; It is God's Will. Rest in peace. You Will stay in our heart forever. Your wife Florence

I thank God for having sent Hubert into the world and for shaping him into the man that he was. An appropriate Scripture text for Hubert's passing is in Matthew 25: "Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." The Lord's words apply beautifully to Hubert. I remember how he would sometimes go hungry because he had given so generously to a needy immigrant. And now he has inherited the Kingdom. Hubert, dear brother in Christ, you inspired me, corrected me, and comforted me with your Christ-like love. You were a gift from God, and you still are. In heaven you are praying for us and for the whole world.

Like Henry, I first met Hubert at the MAR CLC regional gathering. I was just getting my bearings in CLC and Hubert was a great help in orienting me and making me feel a part of the gathering despite not knowing anyone. He was kind and generous, always looking out for others. He also had a global perspective on CLC which I appreciated. My deepest condolences to Florence and the rest of his family. How sad that you were parted from him while we enjoyed his presence, although I'm sure his spirit has always been with you and will continue to be. May you know God's consolation in your grief. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

"God of all consolation, grant to those who sorrow the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have the strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing without hope, but trusting in your goodness; through him who is the resurrection and the life, Jesus Christ our Saviour." Amen.
