Mom left us so many years ago, on the day attributed by church leaders as the birth of Jesus Christ and the day before her mother’s birthday. Her quiet yet firm influence remains with all of us blessed to know her and spend time with her. Her passing was much too soon and completely unexpected, but looking back there were signs she wasn’t her normal self. She was steady and working all the time except for when she found quiet moments to read a love story or Star Wars book, most likely winding down for the night in her room or when she’d sit for a much deserved break to watch one of her favorite science fiction shows or a game with Dad. She was a fantastic cook which could always draw the family together. She could make a load of pbj’s for all the grandkids and babysitting charges, (whom she loved dearly), in no time and did it assembly style. Very impressive. She taught me to love healthy things like salad, stew and water😋She loved her dogs 💕nd often was accused she loved them more than her children…well, some of them anyway. Darryl was the largest of her children, but always her baby boy though he never showed it and Karla remained always her darling baby girl🥰In the rocker she rocked her own children in, she could easily soothe the fussiest of babies and received surprise visits when moms and dad’s were unable to. She had a specific style…she would extend a leg straight out, her right I think and gently, rhythmically pat as she rocked. In no time they just gave it up, but usually she’d go on rocking for the love of her granbabies and sometimes for the parents fear of braking her grandma spell. She looked to Dad’s every need with gentleness and kindness, unless on occasion she wasn’t finished tending to others soon enough for his liking and she would firmly calm him down encouraging his patience💓One of her daughters and many grand and even great grand daughters carry her names Hazel and Jane, a special gift and prviledge💞She loved her family and has truly been missed. She left a huge vacancy in our family and we look forward to being with her again on the other side 💖
