For me and I suspect anyone who knew Gordon, American journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson described ‘Gs’ life perfectly… “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a ride!” We’ll always miss him, but never forget him.

It could take me days to write all I want to say about Gordon. He made me and everyone else who worked with him better people. He would challenge us to think outside of the box, make fun of silly things we did and teach us lessons about "covered wagons" (aka potato chips with folds in them!). I am blessed to have started my career at Jimmy Dean with Gordon as an ally, colleague and mentor. He was an amazing person, a true leader and a dear friend. Melinda, my heartfelt prayers are with you and your family everyday.

¿Cómo conociste a Gordon?
Gordon was my Department Head (boss) at K-State from 2015 to 2022. He was always a very good boss to me, but most important, he was a fantastic mentor! We traveled together through Central America and the U.S. Very good memories! He always made me laugh even during important work meetings! he was always very kind to my family! I really miss him!

I met Gordon some 25 years ago during our days with Jimmy Dean Foods. He was a mentor and a friend and we shared some great times together. He changed the trajectory of my career and I will be forever thankful. I will miss my friend. Melinda, my deepest condolences to you and your family.
