August 13th, 2023. Just found this website. Jerry and I were in the same flight school class in 1966. He was in the 155th Asslt Hel. Company with me and near the end of that tour we ended up in the gunship platoon. on a mission west of Khe Sanh, the ship I was flying wingman on (we were only a few hundred feet high} started receiving heavy 51 cal. machine gun fire and small arms fire. My flight ship was hit bad and his crew chief lost his leg. I was next over the enemy fire and started receiving the fire. Jerry was up above us and came down and engaged them, so they switched from firing at me to him. He took several of the 51 cal. rounds in his ship getting them off my back and I believed saved me and my crew. From what I saw and knew of Jerry he was a friend to us all and a soldiers soldier throughout his career. Reid K. McQuinn, Falcon 9. You are not forgotten Jerry.

Just knowing this fine gentleman made me a better person. Calling him a friend enriched my life. A war hero, creator of the U.S.Army Parachute Team, D.F.C. recipient, and fine example of humanity. Blue skies.
