Georgia was a gift. I cannot remember when I started to learn with her, I think that it must have been ten years. I studied with Georgia on Zoom during the pandemic.....she was an extraordinary light. Gracious and generous with her teaching, her recipes, her advice, her love. I feel deeply blessed to have shared many beautiful conversations and to have learned so much about throwing and cooking and life through her teaching. We will miss you - please be at peace and so much love to your family - our prayers are with you and with them.... Ilene Haigh

I had the pleasure of being in Georgia's class since 2017. Georgia was a wonderful person, great teacher and mentor. Her class was always so much more than just a pottery class. While she taught us how to hone our skills and make wonderful useful mugs, bowls and anything else we wanted she inspired us with other topics. The students in her class were always interested in the latest books people were reading, the favorite recipe Georgia made with the apples or cherries she went to pick on the weekend, or the fun time she had with her daughter at the Sheep and Wool Festival. These were all things that made her class special and a place I looked forward to going to each Wednesday morning. During Covid lock down Georgia's Virtual Pottery class was the one thing I was able to look forward to each week. Georgia was a truly wonderful, sharing, caring person and teacher. She will be greatly missed. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to her loving family. May you find peace in the wonderful memories you each have of a life-well lived.

Georgia was like bright sunshine, a breath of fresh air, always cheerful, and had a beautiful smile. She was passionate about pottery, loved teaching, and was always well prepared for her demos. Georgia had a way of imparting her knowledge and encouraging her students to spread their wings. I had the pleasure of taking several of her classes and some private lessons as well. She had a vast knowledge of clay, glazes, and techniques. Georgia was dedicated to the Clay Art Center and her students. Each year when she returned from NCICA, she would bring unusual tools for her students. Working with her as a Committee Leader for the Annual Galas was inspirational. Her involvement in the annual Soup Kitchen event and the Spring Festival was such a wonderful example of her generosity. My husband and I will never forget a coincidence one year at the U. S. Open when we saw Georgia and Paul. Our unexpected meeting added much joy to the event. I have so many other memories of Georgia, and I will cherish them. Georgia, I and the CAC community will miss you. Thank you for the memories! Zivart House

From Barbara Kobren- Some people dance with their feet and others play music with their lips. Georgia gave us a heart full of art with her hands. She will always be remembered in my life for her gift of clay….and a firm strong lip! How do you sum up the life of this incredible human in only a few words? Georgia was my friend and I considered her a mentor, although i was never officially in any of her classes. She was so encouraging with thoughtful suggestions and constructive criticism that made me a better ceramic artist. Georgia was so energetic and vital, and vivacious; with a youthful look and spirit that defied her age in numbers. I admired her strength, beauty, warmth and generosity. When i think of her in the past tense, there is disconnect, like a typo or unwanted auto-correct. It doesn't seem real. She has left a void in my heart that won't soon be filled. I will continue to drink from her mugs and think of her, knowing her hands and energy went into making them. And I find comfort in that. Rest well, I love you G.

She was one of my first teachers...kind, generous and so supportive. She pushed me to grow as an artist, showed me after many attempts on my own how (finally!) to throw something taller than six inches, and encouraged me to join the Artist Community. We swapped recipes and stories about cooking and raising kids heading to college. Georgia, I miss you and think of you often! I channel you when I'm glazing, hear your words when using slip on bisque, think of you while waiting for the 11 cones to truly be soft both top and bottom before shutting down the kiln at the end of a firing. These photos are from April 2021. Georgia and I fired the kiln together, and we celebrated her 78th birthday while unloading!
