Gary Wood

Gary Wayne Wood was born on February 16, 1955 to Marvin Ross Wood and Hattie Charlene Roach in Commerce, Tx. Gary departed this life on May 31, 2024 in Granbury, Tx. Gary was full of life and never met a stranger. He was an All- State football player at Cooper High School, even receiving a football scholarship to West Texas A&M. His love for football never ended, as he was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fan through all their ups and downs. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter for many years, fishing (although not a great one), and tinkering with old cars. He was a jack of all trades, but a master of none, although he would argue with you that he was. He had the gift of gab and was once said, “He could sell ice to an Eskimo”. Gary navigated his own unique path of life. Despite his unconventional ways, Gary had many faithful friends that he remained close to throughout the years. Those who knew Gary will remember him beyond the complexities of his character and his memory will be carried forward by those who saw beyond the surface of the man within. Gary is preceded in death by his wife Karen, his parents Marvin and Charlene, sister Paulette, and brother James. He is survived by his children Heather Williams; Brad wood, wife Kaylee; and step daughter Lisa Chatari, husband Gary. He has 6 grand children: Madison, Ellie, Daegon, Chandler, Conner, and Cameron; Siblings: Alvis Wood, Robert Wood, Paul Stone, Charles Wood, Mary Saul, Terry Wood, and Perry Wood, numerous nieces and nephews.
