Sharing some of our memories of Gary. In the 1960’s when Gary was dating Jackie and when he was driving his 57 Chevy, Gary would often invite some of us to cruise down Dundas St. Afterwards we would go to A & W drive in for fries and burgers.(This was the time when your order was delivered by a girl on roller skates). Gary had the patience to teach some of us to water ski. I remember Trudy, Casey and myself being successful. Of course Jackie knew how but Frankie and Gary could do the single ski. Many hours were spent watching them ski at Lakeside or on the Ausable River. After Dennis and I were married and moved to Winnipeg, Gary, Jackie and you Rod travelled out to visit us. You were camping along the way out and stopped at Rushing River provincial park just east of Kenora ON. Rod this is where you fell in the rapids and broke your arm. Dennis and I spent the weekend camping with you. To this day this is our families favorite camping area and we have spent a week there almost every year since. In the summer of 1980 our family met up with several members of the Hoevenaars family in Wawa ON. a camping/fishing trip. It was a great time even though it rain a bit and the guys were getting very discouraged with the fishing. The day before we broke camp the guys decided to give it another try and it was a very successful trip. You came back with more fish than legally allowed. Rainbow trout was the catch of the day. Just a few memories of Gary. Most of all, we are very thankful for the wonderful care he gave Jackie after her cardiac arrest. Gary, you will be missed but not forgotten! Love Bernadette and Dennis Lidgett

Paul Naylor

We have many great memories of our shared times with Gary, Jackie, Rod and family. When we lived on PEI, Gary and Jackie came to visit us twice. The first time they came with Leonard and Francis (their parents). We were happy to show them around the Island. One of the main hi-lights was a lobster boil in our garage. We cooked the lobsters on our camp stove. Everyone sat around the pot, probably drinking beer and sucking the meat out of the many legs. Grandpa Naylor was the happiest, this was his first taste of lobster and he sure was smiling! Paul and Gary shared their love of golfing, having played a few rounds together over the years, and often would rehash those games and chat over many PGA tv tournaments. As kids their dad took them fishing. Gary loved fishing, one of pauls humorous stories recalls a fishing weekend at Hartley’s fish-camp. Paul and Jim Arrand joined as Gary’s guests. Maybe they didn’t catch many fish, but Paul’s memories of their escapades together are priceless! One particular tale Paul recalls is when Gary “the mechanic” blew a motor in his Ford LTD, he needed his brother to come to NorthBay to tow them home. Meanwhile Paul, Jackie and Rod were in Paul’s pickup truck (a Ford of coarse), the 3 of them happily singing along to songs on the radio. Unbeknownst to them the tow rope had broken, leaving Gary stranded on the side of the road. Finally someone realized the situation and they went back to get him. There have been many chuckles over this story throughout the years. It is hard to loose your big brother. We miss him, but are thankful for the above memories and many others that keep him close in our hearts. Thankyou Alex for preparing this keepsake memory page. This way we have shared our love of Gary and happily others can read them and enjoy too. With love in our hearts, Paul and Wendy Naylor ❤️
