Friede Jacob

Dear Baba, Ever since I’ve known you, you have been kind, strong and smart. I am so lucky to be your granddaughter. Do you remember when you had an apartment in Florida and you gave Thea, Bodhi and I a coca cola? I remember! It was delicious! And another thing that was right in front of the apartment was the arcade. I remember we use to go there all the time. It was the most fun place in the world. And when Thea took her Alexa there, you would always play “Welcome to America” by Neal Diamond. It was hilarious. But, the most fun thing we use to do together was when we went to disney world. I love you and miss you. Love, Friede (8 yrs old)

Friedel Liptay, My Wife I was in seventh-heaven, can you imagine someone being crazy in love with someone? I was crazy in love with this lady who found beauty in everything, who was kind hearted, and intelligent. We valued and respected each other, and meant the world to each other. The first time I met my wife, I noticed a beautiful lady walking on the grounds at the University of Guelph, towards the college. I told myself I would like to meet this woman, and then I found out that not only was she good looking, but I had seen her in German class and I said “hey! I can get to know her here!”. Once the German class had ended was the first time I spoke to her, then I knew I would get to spend the rest of my life talking to her, I knew I was going to have fun with her for every second of every day. We went straight to the dining haul and spent the next couple hours talking. The whole student body at Guelph knew about us because we were always outside hanging around. I was in love, we really valued each other and the whole world could see it. Whenever you saw us, day in and day out we would have nothing but fun, and the world saw that. Instead of studying, we would walk around the courtyard. One day in class a lady sat next to me and said how lucky we were to find each other, I tried to downplay it and she said “No! You have something special between you” and I agreed. We used the car that my father got me to be able to visit Grossmutti in the hospital in Toronto, she had gone skiing and broke her hip so therefore many times a week would visit her mother in the hospital, we did that a lot, we spent all our money on gas going to visit. We did not care that we had an old car, we just cared that we could go visit her mother in the hospital, and I was excited that I got to spend so much time with her, I was in love with the most special person. She was unbelievable, my best friend. I had her for 60 some odd years, lucky me!
