Eugenia Simpson

Eugenia Simpson, affectionately known as Mama and Miss Jenny, was born in Ivy District St. Catherine, Jamaica. She was the youngest of 9 children and was an advocate for hard work and education.

Unable to pursue her desire to be a nurse, Eugenia set a goal of becoming a dressmaker and was an accomplished seamstress for many years in her home town of Ewarton, St Catherine.

Her passion for helping the less fortunate led to Eugenia being actively involved in community service. She was known in the Ewarton community and beyond for her kindness, and was a friend to both adults and children.  Eugenia was married to Burnett Victor Simpson (d. 2001) for over 50 years. Burnett also shared her passion for selfless giving and they worked together reaching out to others and helping those in need.

A woman of faith, she was a member of the Ewarton Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was very involved in evangelism and church activities serving in various positions including Community Services Leader, Deaconess, choir member and Sabbath School Superintendent.

Eugenia leaves behind 7 children as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has touched countless lives with her kindness and will be remembered for her compassion, generosity and love for God. Her legacy will not be forgotten.
