Eric was a great teacher. I sometimes think back to our time together, and remember how true his words were. Whenever I am unsure of myself, I think about his words - even to this day. Although, I wish I did more of his homework (maybe my writing wouldn't be so rough). Eric, I hope you are doing well.

Graydon is a very kind, knowledgeable, generous and compassionate man. He always has a smile on his face whenever I see him. I will always remember his kindness in cooking his lovely cedar plank salmon for me and my family. His salmon was the very best, no matter how many times I tried to follow his steps, I could never make it as good as his salmon. Graydon is also a good teacher, he continued to take care of his students even when he was sick. We will always remember Graydon.

Eric was my first Canadian friend in Toronto. He was always approachable, full of wisdom, knowledgeable, compassionate, and he is an internationalism. I got to know Eric through and my encounter with Anna at the Fairview Mall library. At that time, as a new immigrant, I knew very little about English, but Eric generously offer a weekly tutor to me, locating at Fairview Mall's food court! There we started a long-term friendship, despite a big age difference. We had lots of sharing, discussing, in terms of culture, history even religion etc. That's really a memorable time for me to integrate with a new country. I was single at that time, then I married, Eric became our families' friend, from my wife, and then my parents, and then my kids. We had lots of gatherings, Christmas, Thanksgiving… and we all loved the BBQ salmon badly. When looking back, it's such an amazing grace to have such a friend in our life. Still can't believe you have left us, sorry for not connecting more often since we moved to northern of Toronto. Sometimes we just miss the opportunities of gathering and don't realize time is limited for us. But we treasure every moment we spent together, and we will put the joyful time in our memory forever. Rest in Peace, Eric

For over 35 years I have known Graydon as a friend and I'm glad I did meet him. We met at "Metro Water Treatment Plant" (as coworkers) he encouraged me to study while we both were working as Plant Engineers. Since then we have always kept in touch whether it was boating in Algonquin Lakes, driving across Canada (Toronto to Nova Scotia) and stopping overnights at camping sites. When I got married he came all the way to Newfoundland (my wife Sheila's home town) for the wedding which not only made me happy but as he grew fond of the Newfoundlander way of life it made my wife and her family happy too.. Many summers we stayed at a cottage in Muskoka- where he once paddled a boat to get me back from across the lake (Grandview lake). Cutting down Christmas tree from "Tayler Tree Farm" at Stouffville. Or just watching sports, movies, comedian show on TV and enjoying his wife AJ dinners /drinks and card games. By the way he was happy when he lost, he did not care as he did not know how to gloat! We argued and discussed, sometimes very strongly, on almost all topics including religion, and in all places during breakfast at "Cora" or BBQs and dinners at home or at restaurants. Graydon has a Masters degree in History but he had an interesting way of relating his knowledge so that you would not get bored, or fall asleep. He showed me what it was to be patient, kind and considerate of others. To sum it, in short, Graydon was one of a kind and I've been lucky to be his friend. Tom Fernandes
