Some lessons are hard learned. In fact, some lessons are so hard learned that you don't even need to experience them to learn from them. My grandfather taught me many lessons, but the ones I find the most meaning in are the ones he never shared. These lessons I speak of, are of coarse; patience, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. When I was younger I attended a youth group, and at the end of every session our youth group leader, Mr. Bixler, would remind us to "act godly out there". I never really understood what he meant by that expression until I found value in the lessons my grandfather had endured. For I now consider patience, forgiveness, acceptance, and love to be the pillars of the ultimate God like quality man is able to posses. Unconditional love. To master unconditional love you must master all these other qualities first. No matter the amount of time required, I won't give up. No matter the act committed, I will forgive you. No matter the condition, I accept who you are. And no matter what, I will always love you. What other being can we image that possess these qualities besides God himself! If I ever amount to anything, I owe it all to my grandparents, who I love very much. I will always remember my grandfather as a saint, in every definition of the word.

A quote chosen by daughter Carol: A Successful Man (author unknown) - "That man is a success - who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of his children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."
