Ed (Edvardas) Peciulis
20 de diciembre de 1972 - 24 de octubre de 2020
20 de diciembre de 1972 - 24 de octubre de 2020
On Saturday, October 24th, 2020, Edward Peciulis unexpectedly died of a massive pulmonary embolism at age 47. Two weeks prior, he experienced a cycling mishap, for which he was receiving treatment. He was optimistic for his recovery. Unfortunately, none of the testing detected that blood clots had formed in both his legs, which fatally embolized his heart and blocked his lungs. He died with family around him.
Ed was born on December 20th, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated from Michael Power/St. Joseph high school, and obtained the following professional accreditations: University of Toronto BASc Chemical Engineering, INSEAD MBA Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Strategy.
From childhood, Ed was passionate towards science, research, exploration, and dedicating his life to continuous learning and experimentation. His capacity to absorb information felt limitless. In between his BASc and MBA, Ed dedicated several years working for Unilever Canada, securing a strategically located house, and building the foundation for his future. Disliking the prospect of indefinite corporate servitude, he moved to France to pursue his MBA, then travelled perpetually, living in England, Lithuania, Ukraine, Brazil, with occasional returns back to North America to visit family and friends.
His focus for the last decade of his adult life was to see as much as possible, meet new people, and enrich himself within varying cultures. Contrasting his stoic disciplined persona, he honed a very passionate sense of humour, razor sharp wit, charged by a seemingly endless energy and aura. He loved having fun, and a vast amount of people enjoyed having fun with him.
Ed came back to Canada in early 2020, not long before Covid changed everything and grounded him here. He spent his time working on various renovations for his house, and spending quality time with family, particularly his young nephew Austin. He was optimistic that the world would resettle mid 2021, where he could once again continue his explorations.
Ed is survived by his parents Vytautas and Irena, his brother Rimas, his sisters Vilija and Virginija, his brother-in-law Ryan, his nephew Austin, and various friends and family.
The funeral service for immediate friends and family will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st, 2020, held at Anapilis Parish, 2185 Stavebank Rd., Mississauga, Ontario. There will be a brief in and out visitation from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. where all are welcome. All who attend must wear a mask.
A live stream of the funeral mass followed by parting words from family will be available through https://youtu.be/qf9EFTwPPbs
The family requests that memorial contributions to The National Blood Clot Alliance be made in lieu of sending flowers https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/ed-peciulis-in-memoriam
This memorial site for Ed has been set up to celebrate his rich and meaningful life, and we encourage everyone to share pictures, stories, and share a virtual drink together.
Man is a pipe that life doth smoke,
As saunters it the earth about;
And when 'tis wearied of the joke,
Death comes and knocks the ashes out.

So saddened to just learn of Ed's passing. We are in the midst of arranging a St. James reunion and I immediately thought of Ed and tried to connect. I was lucky enough to have him as a great childhood friend. He was so smart, funny, kind and different from the rest of my friends. I learned so much from him as a child and we shared great laughs together. He was definitely one of a kind and I always wished we had stayed in touch. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family and friends who have suffered this great loss.

I glad the great pleasure of meeting Ed some 20+ years ago, I’m challenged to think of anyone I know that could measure up. He was such a unique, hilariously fun, and interesting person… never a full moment when he was around. While I’ve not seen him in years, I loved the idea that he was somewhere in the world making it better. My condolences to the family!

You were one of a kind, big Ed. Will never forget the travels and laughs we shared. Rest easy brother.

Daug, daug metų nesu pajutęs tokio liūdesio, kaip spalio 24 dieną. Edis turėjo labai daug artimų draugų Vilniuje, todėl nusprendėme paminėti jį ir čia. Nors organizavau minėjimą aš, turėjau progą susipažinti su keliais jo broliais skautais, kurių niekad anksčiau nebuvau sutikęs. Kai pagalvoji, mūsų Edis nerealus. Net dabar per jį plečiasi draugų ratas. Mums atrodė tinkamiausia vieta prisiminti mūsų draugą būtų Trijų kryžių kalnas. Ten, trisdešimt mūsų, susitikome paklausyti mano ir kitų atsiminimų, kol vaikams pasidarė per šalta. Vaizdo įrašas čia netelpa, tad, jeigu kam įdomu - spragtelėkite čia: https://youtu.be/Sv-3_-uL8CI
