Recuerdos

Duane Allan Wallis, 52, of Garden Ridge, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Duane was born on October 22, 1969, to Arnold Allan Wallis and Linda Faye Peak Wallis in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Canyon High School in 1988, he attended Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University). Duane has two children, a son Cody Hyland, and a daughter, Katelyn Wallis.

During high school, he was an active member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and got his first job working at the New Braunfels Feed Store, where he worked during his time in college. After college, he began working at BMC building materials where he worked for almost 14 years. Since then, he has had various jobs in the medical field putting to use his great organizational skills.

Duane began his dedicated life of volunteer work as a firefighter with the Bracken Volunteer Fire Department, where he got the nickname “Sparky”. As he got older, he helped the local baseball little league organization in his spare time keeping up with the fields and maintenance. With his love for Ag, he was also a life-time member of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo where he could be found every year at the lamb and goat show.

Throughout his life, Duane was an avid hunter and fisherman, passing this love onto his children just as his father did. He also had a passion for baseball, spending his weekends at baseball tournaments and supporting the youth anyway he could.

Duane was predeceased by his father, Arnold Wallis. He is survived by his mother, Linda Wallis, his sister, Michele and husband Enrique Alvarez, children Cody Hyland and Katelyn Wallis, and nephews Tomas Alvarez, Eric Alvarez and Ian Alvarez.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 @ 11 a.m. at Landa ParkPavilion #16. All who knew him are welcome to join us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Braunfels Little LeagueBaseball organization.
