Forever 17

Dominic’s life was taken from us—stolen in a senseless, selfish act. Someone else's carelessness and sickness ended the life of a young man full of dreams, energy, kindness, and so much promise. The loss is profound and impossible to understand.

At just 17, Dominic was already imagining the life he wanted to build. He had big dreams—he planned to own a business one day, go to college, and eventually move to New York City to experience the rhythm and rush of the fast-paced life he was drawn to. His next step was clear; SATs and preparing for his senior year. His goal was to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, and with his strong GPA and drive, he was on the path to get there.

Dominic was born in  Fairfax, Virginia. He lived in Great Falls and was born in January in the middle of a snowy night. He spent most of his life in Walnut Creek, where he made lifelong friends and countless memories. He attended Indian Valley Elementary School where he was elected as their a Vice President. He was magnetic, joyful, mischievous, and a loving kid—throwing toilet paper over houses, doorbell ditching, and laughing his way through every adventure. He loved performing in the school talent shows, a natural athlete - super coordinated playing golf, baseball, soccer, swim team, tennis, boxing, snowboarding and especially basketball with his WC buddies. Win or loose, he played with heart, always smiling, always encouraging his teammates.

Dominic was magic - people were drawn to him. He was an old soul - respectful, thoughtful, and genuine. He would enter your home, shake your hand, look you in the eye, and ask how you were doing—and he truly meant it. His quick wit and intelligence made him a natural conversationalist with adults, and he always carried himself with confidence, charm, and a sharp sense of humor. He had the ability to connect with adults from an early age - the gift of communication and connection. He was deeply considerate and caring - you could not walk by a homeless person without Dominic wanting to give them a helping hand. He thought of others before himself.

His move to Brickell in Miami opened up new parts of his personality. While he didn’t enjoy it initially, he grew to appreciate the environment—the weather, the colors, the food, the mix of languages and cultures. Miami helped him grow, giving him a deeper appreciation for diversity and a more global view of life. He soaked it all in and made it his own creating more friendships. 

Dominic thrived at Miami Beach Senior High School, where he excelled in the classroom, debate team  and competed on the golf team. But one of the things he was most proud of was his first job at a local restaurant. He started as a busboy, pouring water and coffee, and quickly learned how to use the espresso machine. He loved putting on his apron, hopping on his scooter, and heading to work. He took the job seriously and treated it with pride and joy. His managers noticed his work ethic and soon gave him the opportunity to start helping as a waiter. He was thrilled. He loved talking to customers, being part of a team, and contributing to something larger than himself. He also started a dog walking business with his little brother Luca-Dom’s doggy daycare.

Dominic loved family. He was the proud older brother to Bianca, Luca and Dante, their protector, their cheerleader, their leader. He was a beautiful blend of both parents: funny and charismatic, sensitive, empathetic, and deeply caring. He had a special bond with his entire family - he was our Dominic. Our gift from God. He adored animals, especially his pet turtle Tiny, cat Jasmine, dog Bella and his fish. He had a quiet respect for all living things. 

From the age of 6, he ran the Turkey Trot every year with his mom and eventually his brothers and sister joined. Dominic enjoyed taking international trips with his family and was excited to get home to share stories from his travels with his friends. Dominic made every place he lived feel like home—whether scootering through Walnut Creek or soaking up the sun in South Florida.

Dominic, your time with us was far too short, but the light you brought into our lives will never fade. You were taken from us, but we hold onto every memory, every smile, every laugh. We find peace knowing you’re now safe in the arms of your Lola and loved ones who are embracing you , surrounding you with love.
