David Alfred Platte, 80, of Port St. Lucie, Florida sadly left us on February 10, 2023.

David was born in Westphalia, Michigan on June 10, 1942 to Roman and Cecilia (Rademacher) Platte. He was the eldest of four children and attended Westphalia St. Mary's grade school and high school, class of 1960. He was very popular with his classmates and enjoyed his high school years.

After high school, he began working with the Michigan Department of Transportation which involved keeping track of highway signs across the state. On January 25, 1964 he married Judith Ann Platte who he had eight children with.

After leaving the state highway department, he began working as a claim's adjuster for multiple insurance companies, retiring from Safeco Insurance around 2004. He spent much of his life going back and forth with his family between Michigan and Florida but ultimately spent his last years in Florida with his significant other Jacklyn Orlando.

David enjoyed owning the popular car of the day, starting with his 1964 GTO, and the newest electronics. He loved old cartoons (especially Looney Tunes), watching and collecting movies, watching football (especially Notre Dame), and spending time with his loved ones.

David also had a great appreciation for his German Heritage although he never visited his ancestral land.

David is survived by eight children, twenty-eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren: Kristin (Brian) Small of Merrill, Wisconsin, Jill (Paul) Platte-Furr of Charlotte, Michigan, Erik Platte of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sally (Edward) Robertson of Graham, North Carolina, Jakki (Jess) Hanna of Sparta, Michigan, Geoffrey (Amelia) Platte of Lebanon, Tennessee, Aimee (Brent) Johnson of Murrieta, California, and Gregory Platte of Sterling Heights; Shayne, Kirstin, Ayden, Hannah, Maya, Jeremy, Ellen, Caleb, Charlotte, Jonathan, Alexander; Abigail, Gibson; Brittnee, Chandler – Tucker, Faithlyn; Autumn, Karissa (Solom); Connor – Alice, Samantha, Kimberly, Penelope, Olive, Margaret; Natalie, Rowan, Lillian, Cyrus; and two brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Platte and Dennis (Lucy) Platte of Michigan.

David is preceded in death by his sister Carol (Pete) Spitzley.

I was a classmate and neighbor of David’s. We were townies (vs kids who lived in the country) so many of our youth adventures were shared. David was always available to play ball, go sledding or get in a game of cops and robbers which would involve chasing anywhere in the village limits. Lots of great memories from sharing a classroom for 12 years also. May he rest in peace. Ruth (Geller) Pline class of 1960.

I miss you, Dad. Even with being sick, I still can't believe you are really gone. I've known you my whole life. Grateful for the years we had together and look forward to when I "burn my boots" and reunite in Glory.
