Daven "Mac" Lide

Daven "Mac" Lide, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 34.

Born on January 31, 1992, in Athens, Georgia, Daven was a proud son whose life was rooted in faith, family, and an unwavering sense of purpose. From an early age, he displayed a caring spirit, a strong work ethic, and a deep commitment to those he loved.

 

 Daven was a devoted father to his beloved daughters, Kayla and Tara. Every decision he made was motivated by his desire to give them the best life possible. He treasured every moment spent with them, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. His greatest pride and joy will always be the family he leaves behind.

A man of deep faith, Daven found peace and purpose in worship. As a gifted choir singer and pianist at Living Hope Church, he used his musical talents to glorify God and encourage those around him. His voice brought comfort, his music inspired hope, and his warm spirit touched countless lives within his church family and community.

Daven will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kayla and Tara Lide; his mother, Tannisha Porter; his father, Tony Lide; his siblings, Sheraud, Maria, Justin, Joshua, and Jasmine; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Gertrude Lide, who held a special place in his heart. Their bond was one of unconditional love, and he cherished her deeply throughout his life. It is a comfort to know they are reunited once again.

Though his life was far too short, Daven leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, perseverance, and unconditional love. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his infectious smile, his passion for music, and his steadfast devotion as a father, son, brother, grandson, and friend. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In light of the circumstances surrounding his passing, the family has chosen to hold a private memorial service for family and close friends.
