Remembering Craig Lundy Jones

Craig Lundy Jones, born February 27, 1961, in Pasadena, California, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He leaves behind a legacy of intellect, creativity, and warmth.

Craig built a career in software engineering and technology consulting that spanned more than 50 years. He was widely respected for his expertise, leadership, and ability to solve complex problems. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine in 1985. His passion for technology began early as a member of the Computer Club at Villa Park High School and he started working at just 14 years old for Burroughs.

Beyond his professional life, Craig was cherished for his gentle and kind spirit, especially by his beloved nieces and nephews: Laura, Zoe, Lacey, Max, Kelsey, Kevin and Ryan. He was a devoted son and brother, leaving behind siblings Nancy, Peter and Russell, as well as his dear aunt, Lila.

Craig had a rich creative life, fueled by a lifelong love of science fiction, especially Star Trek. He enjoyed storytelling through games and writing, and authored works under the pen name Jack Babbage. His works include A Compendium of Christmas Curiosities (https://a.co/d/0ji8U15c) and The Emergency Preparedness Reference Encyclopedia (https://a.co/d/0aj8xwMO). He was deeply engaged with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), where he practiced archery, leatherworking, and participated in historical reenactments. Any topic that intrigued him he researched extensively and expertly summarized. He found great joy in this community, sharing his knowledge and mentoring others.

His interests extended to photography, woodworking, and amateur radio (Handle: K6NNL). His passion for genealogy even landed him in the Ruthin jail, Denbighshire, Wales. In retirement. he volunteered with Red Rock Search and Rescue in Las Vegas and developed great friendships.

Among many other things, Craig will be fondly remembered for his tradition of bringing deviled eggs to Thanksgiving.

A scattering ceremony in Craig’s honor will take place aboard the Paradiso at Newport Beach Harbor on July 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception.

Craig will be missed by all who knew him and remembered not only for his kindness, but also for the humor and love he shared throughout his life. May he rest in peace.
