Craig Emsweller, 71, of El Prado passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2011. He graduated from Cornell University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Theology and attended Northwestern University for Criminal Justice. He worked a as Marshall and detective in law enforcement. He was a longtime Chaplain in Taos with the Taos Living Center. He was a non-denominational minister for over 40 years and he leaves behind his spiritual family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Emsweller and granddaughter, Nicole Medina. He is survived by his wife, Porfie Emsweller, children, Scott Emsweller (Teresa) of Las Vegas, NV, Shawn Emsweller of Albuquerque, Michelle Schmidt (Jeff) of Las Vegas, NV, Melissa Emsweller (Troy) of Las Vegas, NV, Shane Emsweller (Michelle) of Rio Rancho, Leah Vigil of Taos, Gary Trujillo of Taos and 17 grandchildren. A memorial service was held on April 19, 2011 at he Taos Masonic Lodge. Memorial contributions are being accepted at Rivera Funeral Home.

Dear Porfie, Scott, Melissa, Michelle, Shawn, Leah and all the rest of Craig's family. I'm so sorry and sad to hear of the passing of my dear friend Craig. Even tho\ugh Craig and I hadn't seen or spoken to each other in years, I still CHERISH the good and bad times we had, the supermarket tragedy and escapades, the moving back and forth in Santa Fe, Sheba & her son (the dobermans), our P.I. adventures and all the other memorable things that occurred Scott, your father meant a lot to me and he will be sorely missed because of his genuine friendship, infectious wit and laughter, wisdom, generosity and love for humanity. Porfie, continue to keep your love and strength as a truly beautiful Apache woman for yourself, Craig, family and others. I also thank you for taking care of my children on several occasions and Amatullah ("Baba Looey") sends her regards :-). Bayyinah, Qamara, Ahmad, Sakina, Amatullah are all saddened and sympathetic to your loss. May Almighty God Allah(The All in All), have Mercy and Forgiveness on us when our time has come. My grandpa craig was the best man that ever lived. he was my ghero, my life, i always told him that if he ever died i would have to die with him because i wouldnt stand a chance in life without him. may his heart and soul be with yahweh and yashua. i love u so much and hope u are having fun in heaven driving ur hummer lolz love u ebstest man that lived on this earth i dont want to say goodbye but for now its that til then til we meet again......

Wow, I'm a proud man. And I can say because your pop. I met u in a restaurant and your Dad let me take u out on a Date. a Date with a Angel.im heart felt on a brother's loss of life and if I'm true on myself I'm hoping I landed where I was hopeful.

Len, Anna, Laryssa And Kat Rivera

I am going to miss Craig so much. He has been part of my family for 20 years and always inspired us in everything he did. Craig you were more than just a friend, you were our Grandfather and Mentor. You taught us there is a better place waiting for us, a mansion in heaven. You are now there waiting for us all to arrive. I will miss your voice, hugs and most of all your Love.
