Colin was my friend! We went to Brooks Institute of Photography together. He worked for me doing wedding photography for awhile and jokingly called me "boss." He was such a hard worker in all his endeavors. Colin was an amazing photographer and person. His smile lit up a room and his love for Jesus was his best quality. He was also a groomsman in our wedding. I'm including a photo from that day. We will miss you Friend. I'm so sorry for all his families loss. Until we meet again.....

I got to know Colin through my first full-time job when I was just a fresh graduate, feeling lost and inexperienced. However, Colin and Nicole were kind enough to take me in despite my lack of experience and knowledge in the business that Asian Detours was doing. On top of that, I was a foreigner from the countryside. Looking back, that was the first thing I deeply appreciated and wanted to thank them for. That period was one of the most stressful times in my life. I felt incapable and unqualified to handle the tasks they assigned me. Throughout my time at the company, I made many mistakes and didn't know how to work well with others, but Colin was patient in guiding me and helping me navigate conflicts with colleagues. He was like a father, an older brother who wholeheartedly mentored me. At that time, he was the only source of comfort for me in the company. I know I wasn’t deserving, and I’m sure he had to bear many complaints from other employees because of me. But as I got to know him better, I realized he was a very sincere and approachable person who always maintained a positive outlook, even though I knew he faced a lot of pressure. Despite being the boss and the head of the company, he treated everyone with warmth and closeness. At first, every time I was called into his office for a talk, I feared I would be reprimanded. But instead, he made me feel that he genuinely cared and wanted to help me. I came to see that he had a kind and compassionate heart. He started teaching me valuable lessons. Now, I just want to let Colin and Nicole know that my time at Asian Detours—though stressful (entirely due to my own inexperience)—was a period of great learning and growth for me. I also want to take this opportunity to apologize to Nicole and my ex-colleagues at the time for causing so much trouble. I may have strained relationships and created tension unintentionally. I truly did not mean to... I hope no one blames Colin and Nicole because they are truly good people. I pray that God blesses Nicole and her family abundantly. May the Lord comfort you for your great lost. May He heal any wounds and mend any broken relationships that I may have caused.

I still remember the day I first met Colin when I started working at Asian Detours, the company he and Nicole built to share their love for the outdoors with others. Little did I know then how much of an impact he would have on my life. Colin wasn’t just a boss; he was a mentor, a role model, and, in many ways, a fatherly figure to me. He taught me so much—far beyond outdoor skills. His wisdom, patience, and unwavering belief in those around him shaped the way I see the world today. The lessons he shared, both in business and in life, continue to guide me, and I carry them with me in everything I do. It’s difficult to put into words just how much I appreciated him, and I regret never getting the chance to properly thank him and Nicole for all they did for me. When I first heard of his passing, my heart sank as if I had lost a close family member. That’s the kind of person Colin was—someone who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Colin, thank you for everything. Your kindness, generosity, and passion will never be forgotten. You have touched so many lives, and your legacy will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to learn from you. Rest in peace, Mr Colin. You will be dearly missed.

Colin was a fantastic neighbour, together with Nicole. He was always friendly and most helpful. I enjoyed talking to him about Pulau Ubin and his adventures. I was saddened to hear of his passing. The world has lost a bright light. We will miss his cheerfulness, commanding presence and good naturedness. Nicole, Colin will not be forgotten and hope you will find ways to cope, cherishing the lovely memories you had together. Gerald

My dearest Cuz... Oh wow, such sad days to acknowledge that you are no longer with us, the world is a less colourful place without your kindness, wit and wisdom, which I shall miss dearly. 🕊️ ❤️ Here's the pic of the first time we met, I think my cousin Andrea is about 13 which would make me 9, so the year would have been around 1981 and you would have been 17 or so. It's so sweet that you have a reassuring hand on Adrian's shoulder, but that is you all over. I remember those days as care-free, endless summers and sunny-days - it was so nice that the two sides of the family were able to meet each other, and means a lot to me today. 🥰 And strange to think we wouldn't meet again for another 6 or 7 years, when I came to Singapore. And even stranger that we wouldn't see each other for many years again, because every time we talked (and when we did meet) it was so familiar to both of us. I want to thank you for being a warm and nurturing presence in my life. You were such a good listener, and we had such good talks. You were a rock when Dad passed away, just an incredible source of reliable steadiness that is so rare in the world today. Anyway Cuz, until we meet again... ❤️ we all love you and miss you, look out for Ma and Pops, as I know you will 😊 😘 and I will see you soon again. Love you Cuz, Sharon xXx

The first time I met Colin, he was Yoda-like figure, deep in concentrated thought, at the very top of a shophouse in a very historical part of Singapore. I popped up to say hello to the Lord of the Manor, and was rewarded with a very thoughtful nod. Intrigued, I promised myself that I had to get to know this man better. Whatever I knew of him was through his inner circle, and there was always touch of reverence for his achievements and a deep comfort in knowing him as a friend. When we finally got to meet over dinner, the tales he regaled proved my suspicions right - here was a man who packed lifetimes into his life, and since an early age, had already exhumed strength of character and an intelligent intensity about him. The world will miss him, but for those of us who have been inspired by him, let’s do what we can to fill out the gaps.
