Christopher J. “Chris” Marggraf – Dover, NH

Christopher J. “Chris” Marggraf, age 21 of Dover, NH passed away suddenly on Monday, May 30, 2022 in Canterbury, NH.  Chris was born on June 20, 2000 in Methuen, MA the son of Robert T. and Paula J. (Snyder) Marggraf.  He was raised and educated in Dover, NH and graduated from Dover High School, Class of 2018.

Chris worked various jobs in the greater Dover area, most recently he was employed by Mosquito Shield in Barrington, NH.

He was a kindhearted and gentle soul who yearned to have a close-knit group of friends.  Chris was a person who would give the shirt off his back if someone else was in need.  He was trusting to a fault, but he was always there if a friend needed help.  Chris was an extremely intelligent young man who loved to work with his hands.  He had a passion for woodworking, and he had crafted some beautiful custom pieces over the years.  From a young age Chris struggled with mental illness but he would always advocate for others who were also struggling.

Chris had a true love of the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping and taking long hikes in the woods in the Dover area, especially along the trails around Willand Pond or at Vaughan Woods in South Berwick, ME.  He loved to go fishing and he was a very skilled archer and pistol shooter.  Chris was never more comfortable than when he was spending time with his friends or family in the outdoors.

Chris is survived by his parents, Robert and Paula Marggraf of Dover, NH, his brothers, Major Matthew B. Marggraf and his wife, Christina (Costello) of CO and Benjamin P. Marggraf and his wife, Kathryn (Grant) of CO, his paternal grandfather, Paul E. Marggraf of Methuen, MA, his nephew, Thomas “Tommy” Marggraf and his niece, Lillian “Lilly” Marggraf.  Chris is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very special friends who loved him beyond words!

Always had such a great time every summer with Chris and my family. We used to do the typical, fun summer activities: bonfires, swimming at the lake, ice cream, fishing, farmers market, etc. We will always have such fond memories of Chris and all the great times we had together. Chris has such a kind soul and it will always live on in the hearts of others.

Chris could light up a room and make the people he loved smile. He was an amazing man even with the challenges he faced. I'm so sorry for you loss and wholeheartedly believe he has found peace. I will miss his contagious laugh and smile.

Paula, Rob, Matt, Ben, Christina and Katie, Since the day one I have meet you all it was certain that you all would be in my life forever. What a gift! To watch your family dinâmica was and it’s such an inspiration to me. Chris as always closer to make a conversation with me and make me feel welcomed! Remember the day I took him with us to the farm and he was chasing a chicken just because Pietra wants to hold one but she wasn’t able to get her hands on one and there was Chris to the rescue. Always a pleasure to have around. Always ready to stand a hand and help. He deserved so much more but time was against him. So happy to had a chance to be part of some fun moments with him. Hold each other tie and know this is just a so long! He always will be with you guys, protecting form above and loving with no limits. My love, respect and prayers to you all!

I got to be one of Chris’s teachers for all 4 years of high school. I am blessed with so many wonderful memories. His kindness - the number of times he came to stand up for a kid being picked on. His creativity - his cooking projects and woodworking creations. His intelligence - he lacked confidence but I was always astonished at his abilities. His fun - bringing a full plate of French toast to one of his senior finals. His love for his family - the way he passionately spoke of everyone’s successes and true empathy for any hardships. Chris you will be missed by many. Sending love to the family ❤️
