Our memories of Cheryl can be seen in so many of the photos taken during the years of our friendship with you both. Cheryl and Viv were kindred spirits, their interests were shared and this friendship brought joy to so many more friends, Girl Scouts and the community. Cheryl found me my final career move, you both shared happy social occasions with us, and I am so pleased she visited our homeland with the Girl Scouts trip. Our family feels this moment of emptiness and we send our condolences and sympathy to you Doug and your family with whom we enjoyed sharing so much over the years. The many memories are a blessing.

Cheryl I got to know you first as the person who would soon become my mother-in-law. In our first interactions I could already see qualities in you that I envied: a collectedness in the face of anxiety; an assurance of your own abilities in the face of hardship; and the strength to face anything, all of which were enveloped by a calmness that radiated to every other person fortunate enough to be around you. These qualities would be amplified to Kung-Fu Master levels when Sage was born, because to be honest, I don't know how Candace or I would have gotten through the first several weeks and months of Sage's life without you. Somehow you were able to sleep for three hours, after having gone to work all day, and then relieve my shift for the rest of the night, with just a can of Mountain Dew and a small bag of M+M's in your system. Somehow you were able to look at this newborn granddaughter of yours and seem completely at peace and in control, as though nothing that could happen was beyond your grasp. And on multiple occasions, as when I asked you and Doug if I could have your blessing to marry Candace, and the week we spent in the hospital when Sage was born, and the many weeks after that when Candace and I were figuring out how to try to be parents, you must have looked at me and decided that I had enough collectedness, confidence, and strength to care for your daughter and granddaughter. It is an endorsement I will never forget. I promise to love them, your family, through the wisdom of your example. Thank you Cheryl. I'll miss you.

Bala Carver
Dear Doug, Candace and Leiane, My name is Bala Carver. I am a friend of Cheryl and Gina, who introduced us when I was a little late Blood Banker at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Subsequently, Cheryl and I would meet at AABB or in Allentown. Needless to say that I was utterly shocked and saddened about Cheryl‘ s passing. We often ate lunch at these meetings. However the last memory I have of Cheryl is Christmas time at Gina's in 2015. We got together to have a "Downton Abbey" tea and binge watch several episodes. It was a delightful evening. Following my retirement in 2017, I moved to State College to be close to our son and his family so I hadn't seen her lately. We had discussed the possibility of her and Gina coming up for Arts Fest which of course was put on hold because of Covid. Best regards

I loved the shares in this site - this fun women with her family (everyone was her family). She was a very loved work colleague and was true to her sweet identity in that arena, as well. My heart was so full when she recently welcomed me into the grandmother club. She made everyone feel special and cared for - which was incredible understanding and how bright and gifted she was in her calling. Her wit was sharp, her moral compass was unwavering, her energy boundless, her warmth tangible, and her fun infectious. My life is forever better for having known her. In her example, love to all.
