Cedric David Chapman
18 de agosto de 1962 - 6 de septiembre de 2020
18 de agosto de 1962 - 6 de septiembre de 2020
In 1962 in our nation’s capital, Cedric David Chapman was born the youngest son to Vernell and Eddie Chapman. He moved to Maryland in his early childhood and attended PG County schools.
After graduating from Potomac Sr. High School, Cedric worked at the Smithsonian Institute as a security guard. This placed him a little closer to his desire to become a sheriff. He passed all the necessary testing for this career, but because he was a slim young man, his stature was too underweight for the position.
This did not deter Cedric from securing a job in law enforcement. At age 26, he began working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC. He stayed with the FBI for nearly 31 years until he retired from his position as an analyst assistant in February of 2020.
Anyone who knew Cedric—or Ceddyman, as he nicknamed himself—knew he had a passion for cars. He said his love for cars began when he was a toddler. He built and painted many model cars when he was young…and returned to this hobby after he retired. Ceddy could look at any car on the street and tell you the make, model, price, and what was under the hood. And that was just the beginning. From sleek foreign supercars to classic American made beauties, he could tell you precisely where each automobile factory was located; the history of the particular car brand; who the owner was of every car brand; and automobile trivia unknown to all except sincere car enthusiasts.
But surpassing his love for cars, Cedric loved relationship: relationship with God; relationship with family; and relationship with friends. He gave his life to Christ in his 20’s and was baptized at the Bible Way Temple. Tender-hearted and compassionate, Cedric enjoyed doing all he could to help meet the emotional, financial, and general needs of others. His familial bonds crossed bloodlines and he knitted his heart to extended family.
Although he never had any biological children, Cedric was ecstatic when Katherine and Daniel—his niece and nephew—asked him to be their godfather.
Cedric’s father, Eddie Chapman; mother: Vernell Chapman; and brother: Eddie Chapman, Jr. preceded him in death, he will be missed by his caring aunt: Aimee Lee; cousins: Clifford Perry, Diedra Perry, Juanita Perry, Paris Perry, Richard Perry and James Perry.
He will also be missed by his extended family: mother: Jeanne Marshall; father: Henry Marshall; one brother: Antonio Marshall; four sisters: Lydia Marshall, Roselle Anderson, Tracy Marshall, and Cheryl Jenkins; two nephews: Antonio Marshall, Jr. and Daniel Marshall; one niece: Katherine Marshall; and special friends: Michelle Doniver and Ann Hebb.
