17 mars 1927 - 5 mars 2024
Catherine was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born Catherine Belle Coffin in Dallas, Texas on March 17, 1927, to Dwight and Effie Belle. She prepared for a career of teaching with a degree from Texas State College for Women in May of 1948 and then married Frank Seaman on November 24, 1948. Catherine and Frank shared three charming daughters, Sandy, Karen, and Wendy and were happily married for 48 years before he preceded her in death in 1996. Catherine was an exemplary educator, making an impact on the lives of so many of her students. She had a vibrant imagination with a gift for story-telling both in personal anecdotes and written stories and poems. This creative gift kept her mind and spirit flourishing well into her 96 years. In addition to attending Sunset high school and graduating from Texas State College for Women, Catherine was active in the Oak Cliff Junior Society of Fine Arts, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma society of professional women educators, First United Methodist Church of Duncanville’s Cup & Saucer Sunday School Class, and recognized as a Camp Fire Girls “Sliver Sparks” for over 25 years of service.

I was fortunate to meet Catherine a few times being friends with one of her daughters - Sandra. Catherine was a great story teller and very engaging. I knew immediately where Sandra got her wit :-) Wishing the family peace and comfort.

Catherine was a charming storyteller and so easy to engage in conversation. When conversing with her it quickly became apparent that she had a great love for her family. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
