On the evening of Tuesday, August 17, 2021, Carol Stroud McAdoo -- a loving mother and wonderful wife -- passed away at the age of 70. She passed away in her home in Knoxville, TN. Carol was a wonderful, loving, and supportive wife of 48 years, a caring friend, and a devoted mother. She is survived by her husband, John, daughter, Carrie, her brother, Donnie Stroud, and sister-in-law Connie. Carol was a dear friend to many others and truly strived to be a friend to all.

McAdoo, as I called her, welcomed me with open arms and her caring smile when I came to work in the Real Estate Lending Department. Carol was a dear friend of mine. She kept check on me and let me know, “hey you haven’t called me in a while.”

To the family, May God comfort you as only He can. My heart is saddened!! Carol Ann was a precious friend!! When she was a baby and I was 2, I called her "Carol Ann Baby". I have so many memories of us growing up.......wearing heels, makeup samples, and learning about Jesus. DiAnne Gaddes

The best co-worker, friend and advice giver that anyone could ever hope for. We have lost one of the biggest pieces to our puzzle that can never be replaced. I truly give Carol credit for teaching me everything I know, which she denied, but I know the truth, and will never forget her for it. I hope in my life to be just half as funny, witty, smart, rational, sincere, caring and empathetic as Carol was, the world would be a better place for it. She never wanted any credit for anything she did, because that is who she was as a person, but I give her credit for everything. People come in your life and change it for the better, and Carol was that person for me. I would give anything for one more conversation, but it will have to wait for now. John and Carrie, I hope you know how much you were the lights of her life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

We met John and Carol in 1976 when we lived next door. We were instant friends and remained the best of friends since. This friendship blessed us over the years in good times and sad times. Carol was a kind, sweet, loving person who valued her family above all. We will miss our friend and look forward to the time when we see her again. Carol: Enjoy Heaven and your family and friends there. Joann and John Lang

Carol was not only a co-worker/teammate, she was also a friend for over 10+ years. When I first started at the CU, I was in awe of her - she was full of knowledge, always helpful, and she told you like it was! She was the wittiest person I have ever met, funny, kind and she loved my cooking. Carol and I share a passion for books - she always laughed because I refused a Kindle, was always telling me to get one. She introduced me to many authors/books, we shared recipes, lunches and great conversation. I will be forever thankful that she came into my life. John and Carrie, I hope you know how much she was loved by her work family. Thank you for sharing her with us. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. She loved you all so very much - she literally lit up when she spoke of her family (and pets!). I will miss her greatly. I will see you later, McAdoo.
