8 novembre - 27 septembre 2021
Brian Swan, 52, had his life taken from him unexpectedly Monday, September 27th, 2021 in his home on Madison, WI.
Brian was born in Madison, WI on November 8, 1968. He spent much of his childhood practicing guitar, sometimes until his fingers bled. He graduated from LaFallote High School
Brian loved his family deeply, especially his children and grandchildren. He was the one in the family who “got things done.” He was an incredibly talented guitarist, and his compositions will survive him by way of his children. He was known for making others laugh with his quick wit and clever sense of humor, and had a penchant for “telling it like it is”. Professionally, he was an extremely skilled drywaller and general tradesman, and had worked on impressive homes in the Madison area over his career. He could make a perfectly smooth curved wall, and although he would never brag about it, his family is choosing to shamelessly do so now.
In recent years he had a particular love for karaoke and going to the driving range. And those who didn’t know him well would be surprised to know he actually really enjoyed bird watching, although he couldn’t tell a finch from a robin.
Brian truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether playing music, sharing a meal, or just meeting at the grocery store if you both where nearby. He would often hand over a $20 bill, “just because.” and always visited his grandkids with present in hand. He had a very generous heart.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Robert Swan, and his sister, Lisa Swan. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Swan, sister, Pamela Swan, (Paul Toepfer) and 4 talented children: Amanda Jarman (Neil Jarman) of Oxford, WI; Jonathon Swan of Minneapolis, MN; Jessica Swan of Madison, WI; and Jadon Swan of Madison, WI. He also left behind 4 grandchildren: Jax (age 7), Jolie (age 9 months), Gwendolyn (age 3), and Gloria (age 5 months). He will be missed greatly by many, but we are all comforted to know he’s probably playing, “Stairway To Heaven” in heaven.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 23rd at 11 am, followed by a Memorial Celebration and Open Mic at 1:30 pm. The funeral service will take place at Lake Edge Lutheran, 4032 Monona Dr, and the Memorial Open Mic will be hosted at one of his favorite sports bars, Chief’s Tavern, 300 Cottage Grove Rd.
