Emily Abreu
Brian's Wife
Brian Abreu
10 de febrero de 1983 - 1 de octubre de 2024
10 de febrero de 1983 - 1 de octubre de 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Brian Abreu, husband, son, brother, and uncle who departed this world too early on October 1, 2024 at the age of 41.
Born on February 10, 1983 in Walnut Creek, CA to his parents, Elizabeth and Neal Abreu, he was the loving husband of Emily and the caring brother of Jeff.
His life in Bend was marked by his outdoor adventures of climbing, biking, running and spending time with his friends, hosting brunches and drinking heavily peated whisky around the firepit.
Brian touched many lives with his kindness, sense of humor, and infectious smile. He was always the first to lend a hand to help friends do absolutely anything.
Though he has left us too soon, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His family, friends, and all who loved him will forever cherish the memories shared.
A memorial service will be held on October 26 in Bend at 10 Barrel Eastside at 1pm to celebrate his life and the love he shared with so many. And there will be a service held in Orangevale at the Divine Savior Catholic Church on October 18 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Central Oregon Trail Alliance in his honor.

Brian's light shines bright in the memories of his beautiful wife Emily & all of his family and friends. He will always be there with us to share his views and laughter. Especially in regards to Elfquest. That is just one of my favorite memories of him while visiting one summer. Emily knows the story 😃 The pictures attached capture his fun loving nature and absolute adoration of Emily.

There are so many things to say about Brian because he really was a wonderful person. But I always find myself remembering his sense of humor and what a good friend he was. The DRG Village had a weird tradition of buying random things from the Dollar Store and giving them as surprise gifts. We did this for someone returning from a trip. A few of us went to the BART station to pick up our friend. Among the "gifts" we bought was a pink bra. Brian put this pink bra on over his shirt. At the BART station. In full view of the general public. How many people would do such a thing to welcome a friend home? I wish I had a picture to share. Instead I'll leave this one of Brian and Emily escorting me across the finish line because fast was never my thing. They finished way earlier but hung out and waited for me.

I met Brian right before starting high school at Jesuit. We both lived far from the campus (about 45min-1 hr), so we carpooled together every day to get there. We became fast friends. The first year, Jeff drove us, followed by the next year our parents taking turns until he got his license, and even though we both had our own cars (I'll never forget that big brown van!), we still carpooled together through our senior year. I have so many fond memories of those times, all the music we shared, adventures, and stories. It was amazing sharing that time with him, and I will be forever grateful I did.

I love this memory of Brian working from our house and enjoying snuggles with the pets during the big kitchen remodel. He was always happy to care for Rio when we were away, even if it was Emily signing him up for the task.

I met Brian through climbing and biking when I was in college. I will never forget his infectious smile, disarming honesty, humility, and the care he took in his relationships with others. I remember more than once having to ask myself if he really did care that much about me or someone else, only to be shown, by his own acts that, yes he really did care that much. One time I was with him and we happened to pass someone while driving his truck and he some how struck up a conversation, with a total stranger, about the road we were on and his truck and then I don't even know what else. In fairness he really did like talking about his truck, but also he really did like talking with that person. I'm so glad that for the time we had, he really did like talking with me.

Brian was amazing and my favorite memory is when he proposed to Emily at the breast cancer walk. I am so thankful to have known him, he will be missed. All my love and prayers to Emily. 💕
