Betty Ann Rose

BettyAnn Rose age 92, died peacefully at her Santa Fe home on May 30,2021.

BettyAnn is proceeded in death by her parents Benjamin and Ruth Lippsett, her devoted husband Reuben, her brother Marvin, oldest daughter Debra, and nephew John. Sadly, Betty also endured losing Chris Sena in December2020. Not only did Chris care about Betty’s well-being each day, he made it his duty to make sure her house was always kept up with.

Betty is survived by her children Larry, Paul, her very special daughter Cynthia, Grandchildren; Mateo, Eilo, Celina, 6 great grandchildren; Brandi, BryAna, Ezekial, Victoria, Bella, and Kairi.

Betty was born on August 29, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. In New York is where she met and married her husband Reuben in 1947.  Betty and her newly husband Reuben “the 49ers”, drove across country from the Bronx to Las Vegas, New Mexico, in a 6 passenger New York taxi cab to attend New Mexico Highlands University.

New Mexico, Betty felt, “took us in”, many residents becoming extended family over the years, like the H.D. Sanchez family, Aragon, Leger, Solomon, Zamora, and Gandert families, just to name a few.

Betty’s career in Nursing started in New York. After moving to New Mexico, she changed paths to Social Work, where she later graduated with a Master’s Degree. She enjoyed a long and wonderful career in Northern New Mexico. With a focus on children’s welfare, she became the head of the New Mexico State Foster Care Program, influencing, many state and federal regulations, and bringing training to foster parents statewide. Retiring from the State of NM after 32 years, she continued working for an additional 10 years, doing private adoptions, as well as sat on many boards, and funding non-profit organizations.

Betty’s traveling adventures began after losing her husband. She was thrilled to travel the world including, England, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, South Africa, Canada, Mexico, Belize, and onto China, Japan, Mongolia, Barcelona, and Jamaica.

The Rose family would like to Thank everyone for all the well wishes and lifetime of love shared. The family would also like to thank the AmberCare Hospices team especially, Haide, Amber, Corrina, and Stephanie for their special care and compassion for our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother BettyAnn.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any non-profit organizations as Betty wished. Betty was a very devoted supporter for many years.

We are so saddened to just hear about Betty. She was not only a dear friend over the past 40 years, but part of our extended family. Rubin is the reason Amado came to New Mexico and continued his art career here. She was always a delight... and LOVED her family. She also loved her travels near and far. Betty lived a long and full life . We will miss her. Big hugs and condolences to the family, Amado and JB
