With great sadness, we announce the passing of Adam Burton on May 12, 2025, at the age of 53. Adam was a celebrated figure in Australian baseball, known for his skill, leadership, and dedication to the sport. To his friends and family he was known for his humour, charisma and ability to light up any room, he was truely magnetic.
A standout player, Adam was a two-time ABL batting champion and a three-time All-Star. His 1997–98 season was remarkable, setting a league record with 21 home runs and 66 runs scored. Adam also had the honor of representing Australia in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and playing in various international tournaments, including the Baseball World Cup and Intercontinental Cup. His crucial contribution to Australia's gold medal win at the 1999 Intercontinental Cup is a highlight of his career.
After retiring from playing, his passion for baseball remained unwavering, and he continued to inspire the next generation of athletes through coaching and mentoring younger players.
Adam is survived by his beloved family, including his children Cienna & Brock, his parents Bobbie & John and his brothers Kyle, Michael & Matthew. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, both on and off the field.
A service to celebrate Adam's life will be held at Mulgrave Country Club at 2pm on May 30th, followed by ‘kick ons’ at Waverley Baseball Club.
May Adam rest in peace.

I had the honour of competing alongside "Burto." His energy, determination, and passion for the game were truly infectious. Burto knew how to lift everyone around him—he made us all better. He was our leader, our teammate, our mate—my brother. Wearing the Green and Gold alongside him was one of the greatest honours of my life. He will forever hold a special place in my heart and in the hearts of all who had the privilege to share the field with him. I’ll miss your smile and your laugh, but I’ll never forget the memories we made and shared, wearing the Green and Gold!

What a fabulous mentor and friend! Adam will be missed for the enormous support he gave to all budding baseballers but also to all those who appreciated his honesty and his wonderful, dry sense of humour. Rest in peace, Adam.
