Abbie Bednar

This page, and all it presents, is meant to serve as a permanent remembrance of an extraordinary individual, Abbie Marie Bednar, age 38 of Manchester, NH who passed away unexpectedly on February 25th, 2024. Abbie was the Valedictorian of Northampton Area High School’s Class of 2003, class president and prom queen. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science with University Honors in Materials Science and Engineering where shenalso became a 4 time champion buggy racer. Abbie is survived by her daughter Madison Jennings, parents John & Susan Bednar of Walnutport PA, and brother Jonathan Bednar of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by Grandmothers Rachel Bednar and Betty Rex of Lehighton, PA, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Born premature, needing specialized surgery, Abbie defied great odds from the start. Early in her life she showed extraordinary intelligence, drive and admiration among her peers. Her drive was such that she even insisted on taking the SATs multiple times, in an attempt to get a perfect score, missing it by 1 point, twice. After that, she set her sights on Carnegie Mellonl, and negotiated her own full scholarship. She was deeply connected to the majesty of butterflies, cooking and caring for others. Abbie was playful, respectful and adventurous, open to all the world had to offer. She will be rembered for all of the good that she was and it is ou wish that she lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.
