Steven Mayer, 53, of De Soto died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home in De Soto, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4 at the New Bridge Church in Winterset. A memorial service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4 at the New Bridge Church. Memorials may be directed to the Norwalk Nursing & Rehab Center and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com
Steven William Mayer, son of John Mayer and Karen (Howell) Van Essen, was born June 27, 1962, in Des Moines. Steven attended the Winterset School System and graduated from Winterset High School in 1981. He continued his education at Lincoln Technical Institute in the Auto Mechanic program.
Steven drove truck for most of his working career. He loved to ride motorcycles and 4-wheelers early in life. Steven had a passion for repairing vehicles and tinkering to fix various devices. He enjoyed watching movies and television. Steven cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
Left to cherish Steven’s memory are his parents, John (Janet) Mayer of Winterset; Karen (Norman) Van Essen of Winterset; brother, Eric (Carmen) Mayer of San Antonio, TX; sister, Diane (Jim) Leeper of Mesa, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded by his grandparents on both sides.
