Ruth was my "phone friend" for the last 9 years. I loved hearing about her life, as she really was instrumental in paving the way for women. Her WWII stories were amazing. I was not able to talk to her in the month before she passed, she just did not want to be on the phone. I realized something was not right, so I gave her space.I just regret not being able to tell her I loved her one last time. She will be in my heart forever.

Ruth was my aunt and will be missed very much. I always loved listeningto her and loren talk about all there huntingand fishing trips. She was a great lady. We love and will miss you.

I delivered meals from Kitchen Angels on Monday evening. Ruth and I always had a good laugh because we were both Okies :) She was about my mother's age, and my mother and she always asked about each other. She was a great story-teller. She remembered the wind blowing the sand against her legs when she was little, and how she just about didn't have any skin left from it. And she always had a quick quip. She said someone asked her when she would want to know how long she had left, and she said "Oh, about 15 minutes before they pull the plug." She thought it was funny that my mother wasn't going to renew a magazine because she didn't think she was going to be around that long and didn't want to waste the subscription. My mother died a little over a year ago, and now Ruth's gone. It makes me sad, but we had a good time. May she have a good rest.
