It was sad for me to learn that our dear Aunt Ola has passed away; but at the same time, I know she is in great hands with our Lord and know she is happy to be reunited with my Grandma Lucia, Grandpo Fernando and my mom--everyone's "Beaty."
As we rejoice at the birth of Christ our Lord, let us rejoice in the life of Aunt Ola and her new life with Christ.

David, Linda, Richard and Fernie,
Saying goodbye to Mama must be the hardest thing you have ever had to do, but maybe knowing that you will always carry her in your hearts will make this last goodbye a little easier for you. Aunt Ola has always had a special place in my own heart. We spent some good times together when I was in Austin and she would visit Linda there. When she came to visit my Mom in Ruidoso we loved to tease them both because they were so lost in conversation with each other that they didn't even know anybody else was around. I know Aunt Ola was tired and ready to go rest with Jesus. We can all rejoice that she is with our Lord now.

Tia Ola was a special aunt to us. During our short stay in Santa Fe (5 Years) we would visit her often and participated in her family gatherings. She gave us the touch of the Hondo Valley during our visits. I think of her often as I am a frequent visitor of their old Home on the Rio Bonito now owned by her cousin Cecilia Sanchez Booky. There are too many memories to share. What I remember most is the day we departed Santa Fe on our move to our new home in Roswell. The parish at Santa Maria de La Paz had given us a special blessing and she gave us her own at the parking lot. It was very difficult to leave her that day. We were able to visit her a few times when we returned to visit. She always welcomed us and had something for us to eat as was her custom. We will miss her tremendously. God Bless all of her family and like my Dad use to say whenever we left home. "Que vaya Bendita de Dios"

David, Linda, Richard and Fernie,

I am so sorry for your loss.

I have been a very good friend of your bother, David's, for at least 30 years, and have known your sister, Linda, for about 7 years. I have only heard about Dave's brothers, Richard and Fernie, all of the years I have known him.

It was about three years ago, that I found out that a very near and dear friend of mine who currently resides in Ruidiso Downs is your first cousin. I started talking to him about his ancenstry, etc., and found out that his mother is from Hondo, NM. There is/has only been one person in my life that is from Hondo, your brother David. I then asked my friend, Albert Richardson, if he knew my friend, to which he replied, "he is my primo!". At this point in time, I had known Albert for almost 10 years before I knew he was your primo. It was then, and only then, the I could see the "Montes" resemplence!!!

It was a couple of months ago that I got to meet another one of the Montes clan, your prima, Barbara. Wow, what a wonderful family!!

It is with deep sympathy that I write this to all of Ola's children; however, your Mom is in a better place and is no doubt, your Guardian Angel!!

With much love,

Debbie McLaughlin

Dear Richard, Fernando, Linda, David & Families,
We would like to extend our condolences. Tia Ola will be terribly missed by all of us. I especially remember when we were children, we would go visit you all in Santa Fe with Ma Tita. For sure, we would go with my Tia Olab and you all to the Sanctuario. This is when we found out about the Santo Nino, walking around the plaza at night. Ma Tita, Tia Ola, and mom, Amanda, would take Him his little baby shoes. What a great memory with your family! We want to let you know that we really love you all. Please know that we are praying for you during this most difficult time. Love you, Lorena and family
