Mr. Corkrean made a real difference in my daughter's life in 3rd grade. She spent the first few weeks afraid of this "man teacher", but he won her over and it was so gratifying to see them walking with her arm around his waist, his arm across her shoulder, when they met in the elementary hall some years later! We will so miss him.

To the entire family, John was a very special person, not only to have know if from a distance when we were younger to but have him up close while our son CJ was going thru school, a wonderful person, teacher and coach to all that were lucky enough to have in their lives. I am so very sorry for your loss. John was a gentleman and a scholar. He and Gary Christensen painted our little church in Patterson three years ago and I had the opportunity to get re-acquainted with him. He was so very happy to have his wonderful wife and family. His brother Steve was in my class of '71. May God's Holy Spirit wrap each of you in comfort and solace.

My sincerest sympathy to your family and to all those who held John close as friends. I always enjoyed working with him at Winterset elementary. Such a "stand-up" guy...positive, professional and fun! I wish I'd had the opportunity to know him better.

I was not aware of John'g passing until this afternoon so was not able to attend visitation or funeral but wanted to share with the family how sad I am at your loss. Before I retired I taught with John and always enjoyed his easy-going attitude, his enjoyment of students and his open friendliness. It is so sad to see him go so suddenly. What a sad loss, after we just talked to John a few days ago out back mowing lawn, this was a great shock! We are going to miss him and share your pain and grief! John was a great neighbor who we will miss!
