Biography


Forrest Paul Strong, age 74, a resident of Los Alamos, NM, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011. Forrest was an art teacher for many years in the Los Alamos Public School System. He is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Strong; sister, Bernita Strong and brother, Neil Strong. He is survived by his son; Nathan Strong of Harpers Ferry, WV; daughter, Suzette Strong of Tempe, AZ, brothers, Grant Strong of Lakewood, CO, Mark Strong of Lakeview, OR, Harold Strong of Custer, SD, Bernard Strong of Rushville, NE and sister, Sonja Janssen of Hay Springs, NE.

A celebration of Forrests life was held on Saturday, January 7th at 1:30pm at the Betty Ehart Senior Citizen Center in Los Alamos. Forrest taught me how to read the river, and he taught me how to maneuver a raft in the river. I worked for him and with him in the summer of 1973 for Philmont and Joe Clay, and then again with them floating the Arkansas River in Colorado for the scouts at San Isabel Scout Camp. Forrest was a great guy.
