JOE M. VELARDE

Joe M. Velarde, 88, of Santa Fe, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018. He was born November 11, 1929 in Santa Fe, the son of Manuel and Rumaldita Velarde. He served with the U.S. Army then returned to Santa Fe where he and Rosalie Vigil were married. Over the years he was owner/operator of the Santa Fe Cab/Delux Cab Company, a salesman for Montgomery Wards, bus driver for Santa Fe Schools, and owner/operator of Velarde’s Septic Service for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Rumaldita Velarde, and his wife, Rosalie Velarde in 2006. Survivors include four sons, Joe L. Velarde, Jr of Albuquerque, Charlie Velarde, Jerry Velarde, and Mike Velarde, all of Santa Fe. Also survived by his grandchildren, Victoria Velarde, Jessica Velarde, Sean Velarde, Renee Velarde, Michael Velarde, Jr, and Marshal Velarde, and his great-grandchildren Joshua Velarde, Marissa Pena, Mariah Velarde, and Adrianna Velarde.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at San Isidro Church (large building). Interment with full military honors will follow at 12:45 PM at Santa
