Biographie

Elizabeth B Kemp, Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in Taos, New Mexico on September 11, 2008 at the age of 88 after a period of failing health.

Betty was born in Pueblo, Colorado and volunteered for the American Red Cross during World War II in the South Pacific. She lived in Hingham, MA for nearly 20 years and then for almost 30 years in Plainfield, CT. Always active in her communities she was a member of the League of Women Voters since 1940, served for several years on her local school board in Plainfield, served on the board of the Windham Area Community Action Program (WACAP), was an active member of the Old Ship Church in Hingham and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brooklyn, CT. She was a justice of the peace and performed many weddings at her lovely antique colonial bed and breakfast, the Isaac Shepherd House, in Central Village (Plainfield), CT. She held several degrees and was always an advocate of education and learning and has volunteered at several libraries.

Betty leaves behind her daughter, Laura LaFlamme, with whom she lived for the past three years in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico and her son, John Kemp, of Irvine, California. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jennifer Bard of Attleboro, Massachusetts and Meghan and Michael Kemp of Irvine, California.
