Biographie

HOW THIS MEMORIAL CAME TO BE:

On October 15, 2017, for some reason I felt the urge to reconnect with an important person from my past -- Ed Connelly.

Our lives had taken different paths decades before, but I thought of him on numerous occasions over the years and wondered how he was doing, how his life turned out. I never followed through for whatever reason, but today felt different. An invisible voice seemed to nudge me---do it this time. Later I would come to realize that this very date was the 7th anniversary of his death... !

The shock and disappointment from seeing his obituary pop up in my view threw me off track. Once the shock subsided, I knew what to do. I felt strongly inspired to "preserve" and honor Ed's life, and to affirm and celebrate the significant role that he played in my own. I do historical research, so this goal felt exactly right.

As such, I voluntarily took on the role of Sponsor / Patron / Steward for the commemoration of Ed: this memorial site where I have compiled photos, memories, stories, mementos, and news articles. This is also a platform for others who wish to pay tribute to Ed. Beyond this site, I have also sponsored Ed's Findagrave.com site, and I have compiled his genealogy, available on Rootsweb.com.

Something I did not anticipate was that this commitment would transform into my own existential and spiritual journey.

________♥ My tribute to Ed ♥ ________

It goes without saying that Ed was a very special man and an all-around great guy, but he was much more than that.

Eduardo was genuine, kind, and exceptionally charming. A super-fun friend, a trustworthy confidant, a high-spirited enjoyable companion, and simply a delightful soul who I am proud to say that I knew.

Intelligent, articulate, creative, and clever, yet at the same time Ed was down-to-earth. He was gentle, caring, and sweet, but he was also self-possessed, proud, and boastful. Undaunted by other's opinions and unabashedly certain of his own, he was a hybrid angel-devil, and a resolutely brave man. Bold, mischievous and exceedingly playful, Eduardo’s Modus Operandi included crackling wit, satirical commentary and sarcastic "sick" humor. The man was smooth.

Handsome and naturally charismatic, Ed was a soft-spoken spirit who radiated tenderness and magnetism. His sensitive warm eyes sparkled when he talked. His mirthful laughter was irrepressible. His winsome smile -- completely irresistible.

Ed wove a kind of magic throughout his life that captivated and enchanted those lucky to be in his sphere. This created an enduring fondness for him that transcends time, distance, and space.

Eduardo is missed very much, and because of this, his life will continue to be duly celebrated.

♥ KMG

Strollin' through
Elysian fields with you
Our lush first hypnotic phase
Cooing words meltin' ice glaciers
Keep me turning to the next page

[Chorus:]
Everyday is our first time for something new
As compelling as you are to me I am to you
Curiosity has me peeking through your kingdom of pretty
A formless flow of magical symphony
Consumed by the fragrant possibilities
Curiosity has me peeking through your kingdom of pretty

You feel familiar
A comfort that comes with years
Sparkles flush my skin
I swelled up in tears
As I trace your footsteps around the world
Crushin' over you like a little girl
I flutter among the butterflies

I can’t believe I’m reading this. Ed and I were so close for several years and then we lost touch. I have been thinking about him over the last few days and decided to go online to see if he had a Facebook page or if I could google where he is today. I’m so sad to hear he passed! He took me on my first concert ever to see Cher on the gulf coast. We had an awesome time! At least I have the memories we shared.
