The Man With The Heart of a Lion
Elijah Jason Young Jr., was born on March 17, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. He was the beloved son of Mr. Jeremiah Young and Mrs. Martha Smith. He was a man of determination and resilience, and his favorite saying, "Never Stop Trying!" inspired many.
Elijah's early years were marked by significant milestones. He graduated from high school in 1963, and soon after, he joined a teaching college in 1966. This was also the year he married his beloved wife. His career path was as remarkable as his personal journey. He welcomed his other children, Cadence and Jared, into the world in 1975, and Elijah Jr. in 1977. A devoted father and a dedicated educator, he became the principal of Santa Fe High School in 1990, demonstrating his commitment to education and youth.
Elijah was not only a man of work but also a man of leisure. He showed an immense interest in film and enjoyed fishing. He was also known for his playful side, often bugging his grandmother to the family's amusement. His 1994 milestone was a testament to his love for sports when he hit a hole in one while golfing.
Elijah Young retired from teaching in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, courage, and resilience. His life was an embodiment of his favorite saying, "Never Stop Trying!" He passed away on July 28, 2014, leaving his inspiring story behind, and his tombstone in Santa Fe, New Mexico, carries the fitting epitaph: "The Man With The Heart of a Lion."
Elijah's life was not without loss. His father Jeremiah Young passed away in 1993 and his mother Martha Smith in 1991. His grandfathers Clarence Young and Morris Smith, and grandmothers Beatrice Blackstone and Edith Miller, had also passed before him. His legacy, however, continues to live on through his son Aaron Young, and niece Sylvia Michaels.

Grandpa, I really miss you a lot. I remember when I was young and you would take me to the water park. We had so much fun. You were the happiest, loudest and kindest person I've ever met.
